Custom Size Recording

Customizing the recording frame size.

What is a custom size recording in Loom?

A custom size recording in Loom is a feature that allows users to adjust the recording frame to a specific size or dimension of their choice. This is particularly useful when you want to focus on a particular area of your screen, or when you want to create a video that fits a specific resolution. For instance, you can set the recording frame to only capture a specific application window, a particular section of your desktop, or even a single tab in your web browser.

To use this feature, you simply select the "Custom Size" option in the Loom app before starting your recording. You can then manually adjust the size and position of the recording frame as needed. This gives you greater control over what is included in your video, allowing you to create more targeted and professional-looking recordings.

How to set custom size recording in Loom?

To set a custom size recording in Loom, you first need to open the Loom app on your device. Once the app is open, you will see a recording button. Click on this button to start the recording process. You will then see a settings option. Click on this to open the settings menu.

In the settings menu, you will see an option for 'Custom Size'. Click on this option. You will then be able to input the dimensions that you want for your recording. You can either type in the dimensions manually or use the slider to adjust the size. Once you have set your desired dimensions, click 'OK' to save your settings. You can then start your recording with your custom size.

Remember, the custom size you set will be the size of the recording area on your screen. Anything outside this area will not be included in your recording. So, make sure to adjust the size according to the content you want to capture.

Why can't I adjust the custom size recording in Loom?

Loom, a video recording software, has certain limitations and features that are designed to ensure optimal performance and user experience. One of these limitations is the inability to adjust the custom size of a recording. This is because Loom has preset recording dimensions that are designed to provide the best video quality and performance. These dimensions are optimized for various screen sizes and resolutions, and changing them could potentially degrade the quality of the video.

However, Loom does offer a few different recording options. You can choose to record your entire screen, a specific application window, or use the Loom Chrome extension to record a specific browser tab. While these options don't allow for custom dimensions, they do provide flexibility in what you can capture in your video. If you need a video of a specific size, you may need to use a different software that offers this feature, or record in one of the available modes and then use video editing software to crop or resize the video to your desired dimensions.

What are the steps to change the custom size recording in Loom?

To change the custom size recording in Loom, you first need to open the Loom app on your device. Once the app is open, you will see a 'Record' button at the bottom of the screen. Click on this button and a drop-down menu will appear. From this menu, select the 'Custom Size' option.

After selecting the 'Custom Size' option, a new window will appear where you can adjust the size of the recording area. You can either manually enter the dimensions you want in the width and height fields, or you can drag the corners of the recording area to adjust its size. Once you have set the size to your liking, click on the 'Start Recording' button to begin your recording. Remember, you can always adjust the size of the recording area even while you are recording.

Please note that the custom size recording feature may not be available in all versions of Loom. If you do not see this option, you may need to update your app to the latest version.
