What is an async standup?
An asynchronous standup is a meeting where participants record and share their updates as a recording. Rather than a live meeting, team members can watch each other's updates and respond on their own time. Async standups are common for globally distributed teams who may be in different time zones. It’s a great way to make meetings more efficient and give space for participants to provide thoughtful answers.
How to request feedback with a video:
Step 1: Record
Log in or sign up for Tella. It only takes a couple of clicks. Then, open the screen recorder and pick the screen and camera you want to share. Press “Start recording.” Record your update for your standup with as many clips as you need.
Step 2: Customise
Once you’ve made your recording, you can use Tella’s editor to customise your standup video. Trim and rearrange clips so your videos are efficient and include the most important information. You can also select custom backgrounds or apply different layouts within Tella’s editor.
Step 3: Share or Download
When you’re standup recording is complete, click “Finish.” You’ll be redirected to Tella’s share page, where you can watch the video in full. To share it with your team, use a unique link or download it as an MP4 file.
How long is a stand-up meeting?
Standup meetings are a great way to get team members on the same page, but they should be no longer than 10-15 minutes. They’re a place to give quick updates and air any issues. To make standups quicker, use Tella to record updates asynchronously. Then, members can watch the updates on their own time and provide more thoughtful responses.
What is the point of standing meetings?
A standup meeting’s purpose is to get everyone on the same page and share quick updates. It’s not a place to unpack lengthy issues, but get them on the relevant people’s radar so they can follow up later. Standup meetings are also great for connecting team members and building camaraderie.
How do I make stand-ups more efficient?
To make standup meetings more efficient, teams should record their standups asynchronously using Tella’s screen recorder. It takes only a couple of clicks to start recording in Tella and gives the team member sharing the update the ability to edit their recording. In this way, each person’s update is efficient and includes the essentials.
