Single Opt-In

A one-step process where subscribers are immediately added to your list.

What is single opt-in in ConvertKit?

Single opt-in in ConvertKit refers to a subscription process where a user is added to an email list immediately after they fill out a form or click a subscription button, without needing to confirm their subscription. This method is called "single opt-in" because the user only needs to opt-in once to be added to the list.

While this method can lead to a larger email list more quickly, it may also result in lower quality leads, as some users may accidentally subscribe or not fully understand what they are subscribing to. Despite this, ConvertKit allows users to choose between single opt-in and double opt-in methods, depending on their preference and the specific needs of their email marketing strategy.

How does Single Opt-In work in ConvertKit?

Single Opt-In in ConvertKit is a process where a user is added to an email list immediately after they fill out a form or click on a subscription link, without needing to confirm their subscription. This method is straightforward and user-friendly, as it requires less steps for the subscriber to join the email list.

However, it's important to note that while Single Opt-In simplifies the subscription process, it may also lead to a higher chance of spam complaints or unengaged subscribers. This is because some people might accidentally subscribe or forget that they've subscribed, and then mark the emails as spam when they start receiving them. Despite this, ConvertKit allows users to choose between Single Opt-In and Double Opt-In based on their preference and business needs.

What are the benefits of using Single Opt-In in ConvertKit?

Single Opt-In in ConvertKit offers several benefits. Firstly, it simplifies the subscription process for users, as they only need to provide their email address once to start receiving emails. This can lead to a larger subscriber base, as it removes the potential barrier of a confirmation email that some users may neglect to respond to.

Secondly, Single Opt-In can lead to higher engagement rates. Since subscribers start receiving emails immediately after signing up, they are more likely to engage with the content while their interest is still high. Lastly, it can save time and resources for businesses, as they don't have to manage confirmation emails and can focus on creating and sending valuable content to their subscribers.

How to set up Single Opt-In in ConvertKit?

Setting up Single Opt-In in ConvertKit is a straightforward process. First, log into your ConvertKit account and navigate to the 'Landing Pages & Forms' section. Choose the form or landing page you want to set up with Single Opt-In. Once you've selected the form or landing page, click on the 'Settings' tab.

In the 'Settings' tab, you will find the 'Incentive' section. Here, you will see an option that says 'Auto-confirm new subscribers'. By default, this option is turned off. To set up Single Opt-In, you need to turn this option on. Once you've done this, new subscribers will be automatically confirmed without needing to confirm their subscription via email.
