Rules

Conditions that trigger specific actions within an automation.

What are the rules in ConvertKit?

ConvertKit is an email marketing software that has its own set of rules and guidelines to ensure the best use of its platform. One of the primary rules is that users must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to spam and email marketing. This means that users must obtain explicit consent from recipients before sending them emails. Users are also prohibited from sending unsolicited emails or using purchased, rented, or third-party lists of email addresses.

In addition, ConvertKit has strict rules against sending content that is abusive, harmful, or promotes illegal activities. This includes content that is sexually explicit, violent, or discriminatory. Users are also not allowed to send emails that contain false or misleading information. Violation of these rules can result in suspension or termination of the user's account. ConvertKit also reserves the right to monitor and review content to ensure compliance with these rules.

How to set up automation rules in ConvertKit?

Setting up automation rules in ConvertKit is a straightforward process. First, you need to log into your ConvertKit account and navigate to the "Automations" tab. From there, click on "New Automation" and then "Create Automation". You will then be prompted to choose a trigger for your automation. Triggers can be anything from a subscriber joining a form or tag, to a purchase being made.

After selecting your trigger, you will then need to choose an action. Actions are the tasks that you want to be automatically carried out when the trigger event occurs. This could be sending an email, adding a tag, or moving a subscriber from one form to another. Once you've selected your action, click on "Add Action" and your automation rule will be set up. You can create as many automation rules as you need, allowing you to automate a wide range of tasks and processes within ConvertKit.

What are the different types of rules in ConvertKit?

ConvertKit offers several types of rules to help users automate their email marketing processes. One type is the "trigger" rule, which initiates a specific action when a subscriber performs a certain activity. For example, if a subscriber clicks on a specific link in an email, it can trigger a rule to add them to a different email sequence or tag them with a specific label.

Another type of rule is the "action" rule, which determines what happens once a trigger is activated. Actions can include things like adding or removing tags, moving subscribers between sequences, or even unsubscribing them from your list. Lastly, there are "event" rules, which are based on specific dates or times. For example, you can set up a rule to send a special email to all subscribers on their birthday. These rules help to automate and personalize your email marketing, making it more efficient and effective.

How to edit or delete rules in ConvertKit?

To edit or delete rules in ConvertKit, you first need to navigate to the "Automations" tab on your ConvertKit dashboard. From there, select "Rules" from the dropdown menu. This will take you to a page where all your existing rules are listed.

To edit a rule, simply click on the rule you want to modify. This will open up the rule's settings where you can make the necessary changes. Once you're done, click "Update Rule" to save your changes. To delete a rule, find the rule you want to remove and click on the "Delete" button next to it. A confirmation pop-up will appear to ensure you want to delete the rule. Click "Yes" to confirm the deletion. Please note that once a rule is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
