DaVinci Resolve terms

Page

Each of DaVinci Resolve’s main sections—Media, Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color, Fairlight, and Deliver—are referred to as pages.

What is a page in DaVinci Resolve?

A page in DaVinci Resolve refers to the different workspaces or sections within the software where specific tasks are performed. Each page is designed for a specific part of the post-production process. For instance, the Cut page is designed for editing, the Fusion page is for visual effects and motion graphics, the Color page is for color correction and grading, the Fairlight page is for audio post-production, and the Deliver page is for rendering the final output.

These pages are designed to streamline the workflow and make it easier for users to navigate through the different stages of post-production. They are accessible via tabs at the bottom of the DaVinci Resolve interface, allowing users to switch between tasks efficiently. Each page is equipped with its own set of tools and features, tailored to the specific needs of the task at hand.

How to add a blank page in DaVinci Resolve?

Adding a blank page in DaVinci Resolve can be done by creating a solid color generator and adjusting its settings. First, go to the "Effects Library" and select "Generators". From the list of generators, choose "Solid Color". Drag and drop this generator onto your timeline where you want the blank page to appear.

By default, the solid color generator will be black. If you want a white or any other color blank page, you need to adjust the settings. With the solid color generator selected on your timeline, go to the "Inspector" window. Here, you can change the color to white or any other color you prefer. Adjust the duration of the generator clip to determine how long the blank page will appear in your video.

How to delete a page in DaVinci Resolve?

To delete a page in DaVinci Resolve, you first need to navigate to the page you want to delete. This can be done by clicking on the page in the timeline or in the media pool. Once you have selected the page, you can delete it by either right-clicking on the page and selecting 'Delete' from the drop-down menu, or by pressing the 'Delete' key on your keyboard.

However, it's important to note that DaVinci Resolve doesn't work with 'pages' like a word processor. Instead, it works with clips and timelines. So, if you're trying to delete a specific part of your video, you would need to cut the clip at the points where you want to remove the footage, select the cut section, and then delete it. Always remember to save your project before making any major changes, so you can revert back if needed.

How to duplicate a page in DaVinci Resolve?

Duplicating a page in DaVinci Resolve can be done easily. First, you need to navigate to the page you want to duplicate. Once you're on the page, right-click on it. A drop-down menu will appear, and you should select the 'Duplicate' option. This will create an exact copy of the page you're on, including all of the edits and adjustments you've made.

The duplicated page will appear in the same location as the original, usually right next to it. You can then rename the duplicated page if you wish, to help differentiate it from the original. Remember, any changes you make to the duplicated page will not affect the original page, and vice versa. This feature is particularly useful when you want to try out different edits or adjustments without affecting your original work.
