Changelog

All our latest features, fixes, and improvements.

More languages

We've got 13 new subtitle languages now available in Tella, bringing the total to 20 supported languages. The new languages include Hindi, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Finnish, Ukrainian, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese, along with Australian English, British English, and American English. You can also select your preferred default subtitle language in your account settings.

Transitions

Transitions are the latest game-changer in how you craft your videos with Tella. Now, every new video you create will have smooth transitions between layouts, automatically bringing your content to life. To retrofit this magic onto your old videos, just hit the "Transitions" button in Layout mode, and voila, your videos are instantly upgraded. For now, we're rolling out with two types of transitions. Hard cut keeps things sharp and direct. Smooth introduces sleek, automatic transitions that glide your audience from scene to scene effortlessly.

Audio pops

Some of you noticed (and told us) that every now and then tiny annoying pops and glitches would show up in the audio of your videos. Today we are happy to tell you that they should never show up again!

Note: old videos and exports won't automatically have this fix applied, you'll have to re-render your videos to fix them. Re-rendering can be done by making a small change in the editor.

Multi-Layouts

The biggest ever update to the editor. Multi-Layouts lets you create story-propelling, multi-shot videos with just a few clicks. Switch between layouts throughout your video to keep viewers engaged and drive your story forward.

Multi-layouts

Multi-layout is a new way of editing your videos in Tella. It lets you combine multiple layouts, and multiple shots in a single clip so that you can make more dynamic videos, more engaging videos, way faster. You can switch from a shot of your camera to just a shot of your screen, and then maybe you can switch to a shot of your screen and camera side by side. You can just repeat this process throughout your clip as many times as you want to get the effect that you want. And the cool thing about it is that you don't need to worry about it at all during the recording. You can just quickly make these edits after you've done the recording, so you can just focus on doing your best demo, doing your best pitch, whatever it is.

Gear Guide & Viewer Downloads

New features and resources including an interactive video gear guide and the new viewer download feature.

Features

  • Viewer downloads: Let viewers download your videos directly from the view page
  • Video gear guide: An interactive guide to help entrepreneurs set up their on-screen setup
  • Video course: New tutorials on looking good on camera and making great tutorials

Search engine indexing

Many of you share your Tella videos on the web, posting them on websites and including them in documents. This helps search engines like Google find and list your videos. But if you want to make your videos even easier to find, you can use the 'search engine indexing' feature. When you turn this on, it sends a message to Google asking them to add your video to their search results. After a while, Google should start showing your video when people search for it. If you turn off this feature, your video gets a tag that tells search engines not to show it in search results. This way, you can control whether your video appears in Google searches or not.

Viewer downloads

Viewer downloads allow viewers of your videos to download them directly. Simply enable the 'Allow Downloads' option in the view settings of your video. Once this is done, anyone watching your video will have the option to download it in various formats, including subtitles and 4K quality. For added convenience, we've included an option in your account settings to allow downloads by default for all new videos. Please use this setting carefully, as it means all your new videos will be downloadable by anyone you share them with.

Animated Backgrounds

Animated backgrounds are short videos that loop perfectly behind your main content. They look great and add extra engagement to your videos — an effect normally found in videos from top YouTubers, now available with the click of a button. We also open-sourced all the original animation files, free to use however you like.

Video backgrounds

Our new video background section is in its first version, currently offering a limited selection of video backgrounds, with plans to expand this collection significantly over the coming weeks. These backgrounds are designed to loop perfectly, adding dynamic visuals to your videos. We also upgraded our background & color picker. It now includes a 'Recently Used' section, allowing you to browse through and quickly switch to images you've used before. We've also introduced a section for MacOS wallpapers, featuring selections from recent operating systems, with potential additions from classic ones in the future. The color picker now provides a more extensive library for your saved colors and gradients.
