The Tella Mac app needs three macOS permissions before it can record: Camera, Microphone, and Screen Recording. Until all three are granted, the app shows a First, permissions. screen instead of the recorder.

Grant the permissions

  1. Open the Tella Mac app. On the First, permissions. screen, click Camera, then Microphone, then Screen recording.
  2. Approve each macOS prompt. If you already denied one, the button opens the matching pane in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Switch Tella on there.
  3. If Tella still can’t see your screen after you granted Screen Recording, quit and reopen the app. macOS only applies that permission to a freshly launched app.

After a macOS update

System updates can reset or invalidate these grants. If recording stops working after an update, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, toggle Tella off and on again under Screen Recording, Camera, and Microphone, then quit and reopen Tella.
Recording in your browser uses separate permissions, granted to the browser rather than to Tella: see grant permissions for camera, mic, and screen.
