Grant the permissions
- Open the Tella Mac app. On the First, permissions. screen, click Camera, then Microphone, then Screen recording, then Keystrokes.
- Approve each macOS prompt. If you already denied one, the button opens the matching pane in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Switch Tella on there.
- If Tella still can’t see your screen or your key presses after you granted Screen Recording or Input Monitoring, quit and reopen the app. macOS only applies these permissions to a freshly launched app.
Why does Tella need Input Monitoring?
Input Monitoring lets Tella capture your key presses while you record, so you can show keystrokes on screen when you edit. Keystrokes stay hidden in your video unless you turn them on in the editor. If you’d rather not grant Input Monitoring, record in your browser with the web recorder or the Chrome extension instead. They don’t use it.Recording stopped working after a macOS update?
System updates can reset or invalidate these grants. If recording stops working after an update, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, toggle Tella off and on again under Screen Recording, Camera, Microphone, and Input Monitoring, then quit and reopen Tella.Recording in your browser uses separate permissions, granted to the browser rather than to Tella: see grant permissions for camera, mic, and screen.
