When you create a new Tella account, a short guided setup helps tailor the app to the videos you want to make, applies your branding, and gets you to your first recording. Every step can be skipped, and finishing (or dismissing) drops you into your workspace. The steps you see depend on your role: workspace owners get all of them; invited members see a welcome screen, choose their goals, and go straight to recording — the branding and plan steps are managed by the owner.

The steps

  1. Welcome (invited members only) — a short intro to what Tella does.
  2. Choose your goals — pick the kinds of videos you want to make (quick messages, product demos, social, long-form). This sets your starting recording mode.
  3. Style your videos (owners only) — add an icon and brand color for your shared video pages. Skippable, and editable later in Settings → Branding.
  4. Record your first video — download the Mac/Windows app, record in your browser, or skip to explore your account.
  5. Your plan (owners only) — new workspaces start on a seven-day free trial of Tella Pro. See plans and how the free trial works.

Good to know

  • Your goals set your starting recording mode. Pick only Quick video messages and you start in quick mode (each recording is its own video, no editor). Pick any longer format and you start in multiple clips mode. You can switch modes anytime from the recorder.
  • Automatic branding. If you sign up with a work email, Tella tries to detect your company’s icon and brand color from your email domain and pre-fills the style step. Accept, edit, or skip it.
  • Nothing is permanent. Your recording mode, branding, and plan can all be changed later from the recorder and from Settings.
