Viewer settings

Viewer settings let you control what viewers see and can do when watching your video. You can access them from the Share menu in the editor, or from More (…) → Viewer settings on the video’s view page.

How to open viewer settings

1. Open your video in the Tella editor.
2. Click Share in the top right.
3. Click Viewer settings.

Video

​

Default playback speed

Set the speed viewers see when they first open your video. Options range from 0.5x to 2.5x (0.5x, 0.8x, 0.9x, 1.0x, 1.1x, 1.2x, 1.5x, 1.7x, 2.0x, 2.5x). Viewers can still adjust the speed themselves while watching.

Allow downloads

Toggle whether viewers can download the exported video file. When enabled, a Download button appears in the top navigation bar of the view page, next to Copy link.

Raw downloads

Only visible when downloads are enabled. Allows viewers to download the underlying video and audio files in addition to the exported video, including the video and audio clips attached to the video’s scenes, not only your camera and screen recordings. Viewer options

Subtitles

Controls whether subtitles are shown by default when someone watches your video. Viewers can still toggle subtitles on or off themselves.

Reactions

Enable or disable emoji reactions on the video timeline. When enabled, viewers can respond with emoji reactions at specific moments while watching. See Reactions for details.

Comments

Enable or disable the comment section on your video. When enabled, viewers can leave regular or timestamped comments. See Comments for details.

Comment notifications

Only visible when comments are enabled. Controls whether you receive an email notification when someone leaves a comment.

Transcript

Toggle whether the transcript tab is visible to viewers on the view page.

Document generation

Allow viewers to generate documents (like summaries or notes) from your video content.

​

Publishing date

Show or hide the date the video was published. Useful for keeping evergreen content looking current.

Copy link button

Show or hide the copy link button on the view page, which lets viewers easily share your video with others.

​

View counts

Show or hide the view count on the video. This setting is available on paid plans. When enabled, the view count appears on the view page for everyone. Editors and creators can click the view count to open analytics, while other viewers see it as a static display.

Call-to-action buttons

Call-to-action (CTA) buttons let you add clickable links to your video view page and embeds. You can add up to two buttons per video. Videos inherit CTA buttons from workspace defaults, but you can customize or remove them on a per-video basis. See Share & download for details on managing CTAs.

Link settings

These options appear depending on your video’s access setting.

Listed in workspace

Visible when access is set to Workspace members. Makes the video discoverable to all workspace members, rather than only those with the direct link.

​

Search engine indexing

Visible when access is set to Anyone with the link. Allows search engines like Google to index and surface your video in search results.

Thumbnail

Customize the image that represents your video in your library, on the view page, and in embeds. See Change thumbnail for a detailed walkthrough.

Video frame

Set a timestamp to control both the static thumbnail and where the animated preview begins. Use the number input to pick the start time in seconds.

​

Upload

Upload a custom image (PNG, JPG, or WebP, minimum 1080x1080 px, maximum 4032x4032 px) to use as the thumbnail instead of a video frame.
