Capture a website or social post directly in the editor instead of taking a screenshot, downloading it, and uploading it again. Tella adds the capture to the current video’s Media Library, where you can use it in a layout or as an overlay.

What you can capture

  • A public web page, either Above the fold as an image or as a Scrolling page video
  • An individual public post from X, Instagram, LinkedIn, or TikTok
For social media, paste the link to the post itself. Profile, search, and feed links are not supported.

Add a capture to a layout

Use a media layout when the capture should replace your screen recording for part of the video.
  1. Open your video and click Layout.
  2. Select a time range or layout section, then choose a Media layout. You can also open Customize layout and change Screen or Camera to Media.
  3. In the Media Library header, click Screenshots (the link icon).
  4. Under Add from socials or a website, paste the link into Paste a link.
  5. For a web page, turn on Scrolling page if you want an animated scroll instead of an image of the page above the fold. Social posts are captured as still cards.
  6. Click Add.
Tella adds the capture to the Video tab of the Media Library and places it in the selected layout section.

Add a capture as an overlay

Use an overlay when the capture should sit on top of your recording.
  1. Move the playhead to where the overlay should start, or select a time range.
  2. Click Overlay, find Media, then click Browse all.
  3. In the Media Library header, click Screenshots (the link icon).
  4. Under Add from socials or a website, paste the link into Paste a link.
  5. Click Add.
Tella captures the post or the part of the web page above the fold, adds it to the Video tab, and places it on the canvas.

Switch a website overlay to a scrolling page

After you add a website as an overlay, you can change how Tella captures it:
  1. Select the website overlay on the canvas or timeline.
  2. Under Screenshot, choose Above the fold or Scrolling page.
  3. Wait for Tella to recapture the page and replace the overlay.
This control is available for website captures, not social-post cards.

Reuse a capture

Captures stay in the current video’s Video library. Open the item’s menu and choose Save to personal or Save to team if you want to use it in other videos. For more ways to position and edit the result, see Add media (B-roll) or Add media overlays.
