This article explains how Tella billing works — what you’re charged for, how team pricing works, and what to expect on your invoice.

Pricing overview

Tella offers two paid plans, billed per user:

Per-user billing

Tella charges per user on your workspace. Every Owner and Member counts as a billable seat. Viewers are free and don’t count toward your seat total. For example, if your workspace has 3 Owners/Members on Pro (annual), your bill would be 3 × 13/month=13/month = 39/month (billed as $468/year).

When you add a member

When a new member accepts their invite and joins your workspace, your subscription will be updated. The charge for the new seat is prorated — you only pay for the remaining time in the current billing period.

When you remove a member

When you remove a member, the seat count decreases and you’ll receive a prorated credit for the unused time on your next invoice.

Billing intervals

You can choose between monthly or annual billing. Switching between intervals is done through the Stripe billing portal, and any difference is prorated. To switch:
  1. Go to SettingsPlans & Billing.
  2. Click Open the Stripe portal.
  3. Update your billing interval from there.

Free trial

New accounts start with a 7-day free trial. During the trial you have full access to all features, except uploading videos from your computer — uploads require a paid plan. If you don’t subscribe before the trial ends, you’ll lose the ability to create or edit videos — but your existing videos are never deleted. Learn more.

Managing your billing

All billing is handled through Stripe. To access the Stripe billing portal:
  1. Click your workspace name in the top-left corner.
  2. Go to SettingsPlans & Billing.
  3. Click Open the Stripe portal.
From the Stripe portal you can:
  • Update your payment method
  • Switch between monthly and annual billing
  • View invoice history and download receipts
  • Cancel your subscription

Common questions

Why is my bill higher than expected?

The most common reason is additional team members. Each Owner or Member on your workspace is a billable seat. Check your member list under SettingsAdd and Manage Members to see who’s on your workspace.

I was charged a different amount than the listed price

If you added or removed members during a billing cycle, Stripe prorates the charges. This can result in a bill that doesn’t match the exact per-user price. Check your invoice in the Stripe portal for a line-by-line breakdown.

Can I pay in a currency other than USD?

Tella only accepts payments in USD. However, Stripe allows for adaptive billing, so you may be able to pay in your local currency. A conversion fee may be applied by Stripe. Your bank or credit card provider may also apply their own currency conversion fees.

How do I see what I’m being charged for?

Open the Stripe billing portal from SettingsPlans & BillingOpen the Stripe portal. Your invoices show the plan, number of seats, billing interval, and any prorated adjustments. You can also download past invoices.
