Organize and share videos with playlists

One of the ways to keep your Tella workspace tidy is by using playlists. You can add videos to multiple playlists to organize them appropriately. You can then share playlists with your team or external stakeholders to view the Tella videos inside of them.

Steps to use a playlist

  1. Create your playlist Click on the ”+” icon next to “Playlists” on the left sidebar. Give your playlist an Icon, a Name and an optional Description, then click Create playlist. Tella then opens the sharing step where you set Who can access it (Only me, Specific users, or Organization: everyone in your workspace), add a password, and copy the link. Search engine indexing is a separate toggle in Share playlist → Publish.
  2. Add videos to your playlist You can add videos to your playlist in multiple places. You can do so:
    1. By going to the “My Videos” tab, hovering over a video and selecting the “Add to playlist” button. Then, select the playlists you want to add the video to.
    2. By going into a Tella video, clicking “Share,” then selecting “Manage playlists.” From there, you’ll select the playlists you want to add the video to.
    3. From the view page or editor, click the video title in the top-left of the page and select Manage playlists from the dropdown menu. This option is available if you are the video creator or an editor.
    4. By dragging a video card from your library directly onto a playlist in the left sidebar. The playlist row highlights when you hover over it to show it’s a valid drop target. Release to add the video. You can also select multiple videos first and drag them all at once. A confirmation message will appear showing how many videos were added.

Sharing a playlist

What you see when sharing a playlist depends on your role:
  • Managers and creators see a Share playlist button. Creators can change sharing settings such as access level and password. Managers can open the dialog to see who has access, but they cannot change these settings. Both can add or remove videos. For public or password-protected playlists, a Copy link option appears alongside the share button.
  • Viewers see a Copy link button only. Since viewers cannot change sharing settings, the share dialog is not available.
When you give someone playlist access, choose Can manage to make them a manager or Can view to make them a viewer. Can manage does not let them edit the videos inside the playlist; video editing access is granted separately for each video.
