Want to demo an iPad app or walk through something on your tablet? You can capture your iPad screen in a Tella recording using the same methods available for iPhone.

Method 1: Screen mirroring (wireless)

  1. Start a new Tella recording and share your whole computer screen
  2. Start recording
  3. On your iPad, open Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner
  4. Tap Screen Mirroring
  5. Select your Mac from the list
  6. Your iPad screen will appear on your Mac — Tella captures it as part of the screen recording
  7. When you’re done, stop recording in Tella
  8. Trim the beginning and end, and resize the layout to fit your iPad screen
Your iPad and Mac need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Both devices must be signed into the same Apple Account.

Method 2: QuickTime (wired)

  1. Connect your iPad to your Mac with a USB cable
  2. Open QuickTime Player on your Mac
  3. In the menu bar, click FileNew Movie Recording
  4. Click the arrow next to the record button and select your iPad as the source
  5. Your iPad screen will appear in the QuickTime window
  6. Record the QuickTime window using Tella (web app, Chrome extension, or Mac app)

Editing tips

After recording, you can use Tella’s editor to clean up the video:
  • Trim the start and end to remove the setup
  • Crop to focus on just the iPad screen
  • Zoom into specific areas to highlight details
