No. Tella can’t record a voiceover onto a video you already recorded or generate AI narration, but you can add an audio file or re-record the clip.
Your voice comes from the microphone you record with, so narration is captured at the same time as your screen or camera. Here is what you can do with a video that’s already recorded.
Add a voiceover you recorded somewhere else
Record your narration in any audio app, then add the file to your video as a sound:
- Open the video in the editor and move the playhead to where the narration should start.
- Open Overlay and find the Sounds section, then click Browse all and upload your audio file.
You can also drag the audio file from your computer straight onto the timeline where it should start. The file plays alongside the clip’s own audio; drag its card to move it, drag its edges to change its duration, and set its Volume from 0 to 200%. See Add sound effects.
Re-record a clip with your voice
To redo the narration of one part, click Redo in the editor’s left toolbar, or choose Re-record from the clip’s ⋯ menu. This replaces that clip’s recording and its edits, and leaves the rest of the video untouched. To replace only part of a clip, split it first. See Re-record clips.
Narrate a video you already have
Play the video on your screen and record it in Tella with your microphone on. You capture the video and your voice in one take, and your camera too if it’s on. To add your face over an existing video instead, see Can I combine two separate recordings into one video?.
Does Tella generate an AI voice?
No. Tella’s AI generator in the sound library makes short sound effects from a text prompt, not narration of your script. To use an AI voice from another tool, export it as an audio file and add it as described above.
Add music under the whole video
For a music bed rather than a voice, use background music in the Audio panel. One track plays quietly under the whole video, underneath your voice. Last modified on October 15, 2026
