Dakotah 50K Break

Hello ladies, here to add some value and help you out on social media.

I had a call yesterday with one of my long-term clients, Dakota.

It was on our weekly content audit session where I help my mentees figure out what they're doing on Instagram or TikTok and how they could be doing it better.

Dakota had recently hit 50,000 followers, amazing for her.

She's been growing consistently, but she felt like it was kind of stagnant at that level already.

Previously, we had grown her page from 11,000 to 30,000 followers.

she continued to apply the same IGs and got from 30,000 to 50,000.

But we want to continue to grow her page and continue to grow her brand online.

I think she has potential to be the most followed esthetician on the internet.

That's what we're working towards.

So I'm gonna give you an overview of essentially what I told her, what it looks like.

And this might help you whenever you're making videos, you're making content, you're like, I don't know what to do.

Like, I thought this performed well and I don't know how to do it again, right?

Which is kind of where people find themselves, whereas, okay, this video did well and you're trying to remake or recreate that video that did very well, but you can't figure out why it's not doing well again.

Like, wait, what was the format?

What was the concept?

Why did this do so well, and how do I do it again?

That's what I'll be breaking down in this quick video.

I don't want to waste any more time, so let's get into it.

So this is Dakota's page.

Make sure y'all follow her if you haven't already.

She's also has her own school community for estheticians who want to be more confident in the treatment room.

She's a very talented esthetician.

I helped her put this mentorship program together, so I can tell you it is extremely valuable, and she is adding information in there all the time, especially if you're not really confident on how to treat acne.

But that's neither here nor there.

Let's get into it.

Okay, so, when Dakota was at 30,000 followers, she eventually- mind you, we've been posting these, we've been- she's been kind of using this, we've been working together for a long time, but this is like all of these things in between is all like her still applying but on her own.

There was a time period where I was telling her what to post But now that after she understood what to do, this is all still her, right?

So she is very consistent.

she listens and she applies.

She takes action very quickly.

That's why Dakota gets such great results.

She doesn't wait around.

She does what she needs to do.

So here's a video specifically that really went crazy for her and single-handedly took her from 30,000 followers to 50,000 followers in the span of maybe a week or two.

She was growing crazy.

It's like really these two, right?

So the first one, this is her sitting in her backyard and there's a sound behind it.

Hold on, let's play the sound.

Mind you, she is adorable.

Like honestly, and she's so herself, really, which is what works for her, essentially.

And I try to get everybody to understand that really what's gonna work best for you is being yourself.

and this is something that obviously- literally, I remember our first video we made with her, like, I'm like, hey, just- you like to stand in your backyard in the bikini, like, make content out there, whatever.

and it's just- she's just so herself, and it's honestly what works best for her.

But on this video in particular, we read the top, it says, me on day 2 of my period, free bleeding in my yard, fighting my depression one novel at a time, right?

She's very much being herself.

She likes to read, she likes to spend time in her backyard.

And she's on her period, she's experiencing her cycle and just being transparent about it.

her target audience is clearly women, obviously.

It's like everything she does is really about women, for women, and she's a female entrepreneur, wants to teach women.

So that's her target audience.

So naturally, through speaking about her period, that's gonna bring a lot of women that can relate to her.

Whatever they say, their comments are going crazy, and Dakota's like, okay, well, you know what, this video did so well, I'm gonna make my Garden Yap a series, right?

So this is like just like making this series for her to to sit in the backyard and continue like talking about the things she's doing and lifestyle stuff like that.

But nothing else was going as crazy as that video, right?

So in comparison, this video, I got like 400,000.

In both these videos, she's talking about what she's up to, like the fact that she's reading, she's on her cycle, she's free bleeding in the yard, and she's just living her life.

And she's a little garden fairy in the backyard.

but so she's like, okay, I'm trying to duplicate this, but this one got 400,000 views, this one got 300,000 views, this one got 30,000.

Right, which is significantly different.

It's okay, but we'll keep going.

this one got 30,000, this one got 70,000, 20,000, but nothing else even breaking 100,000 views.

So it's like, okay, maybe that's why whenever you're like making content, you're trying to recreate it and you're like, I don't know why this did well.

You have to like figure out, you just start testing, right?

This one had to be open to testing different things.

We're like, okay, we're gonna try out this.

Maybe it went crazy because she was talking in her backyard in her bikini, but probably not because we've made many, many, many videos.

she's made- she's been doing that before in the past.

Right?

my God, I thought I had my necklace on.

It's all the way down.

You have to go in deeper to it.

Clearly, obviously, we see that she wanted to do it more after it went very- after it went viral recently.

But then we have to figure out when something- when we- when the- when the thing isn't doing as well as we thought it would, it's just being open to testing.

Like, like, what else could have been the reason this video was doing so well, right?

Maybe it wasn't the bikini in the backyard gardening yapp series that was the solution.

It could have really just been her talking about her cycle and how she experiences it.

And that's what we talked about on our call yesterday.

I was like, honestly, I think I was like watching her, I'm watching her previous content.

I was like, honestly, I think what you're what the problem is just that you are focusing on the wrong part of why the video did really well.

So I'm like, instead of doing the gardening app series more and more, I said, I think you should probably talk about free bleeding again, right?

And your experience on your period and how you go about it.

Because she said she was talking about 50,000 followers.

and then she made this immediately after we got off the call.

Immediately after we got off the call, free bleeding on the internet.

and then once again, 4,000 likes.

This is less than 24 hours ago.

all of the comments, and then 52,000 views and 51.6 thousand followers.

I wish I would have screenshot yesterday.

She was at like 50,000.4, right?

So this is almost 1,000 new followers in less than 24 hours and 50,000 views.

Whenever you're trying to figure out why a piece of content went viral and you're like, why did this do so well?

Why did this one bring me so many followers?

Why did this one do this, and then I try to redo that one and it didn't happen.

Be open to testing different parts of the video and trying to figure- and just breaking it down.

Like, maybe it went- well, maybe it was because of this, maybe it was because of this, maybe it was because of this.

There are many different- whenever it comes to social media, it's very rarely just cut and dry.

well, it did well because of this hashtag, because you said this in the beginning, because you said this.

It's very rarely that cut and dry.

It's super nuanced.

People will come to me like, well, Trinity, like, do you think this didn't do well because I did this?

I said, probably not.

Right, probably not.

If it seems super simple to you, it may not be that- it's probably not that, that, that straightforward, because social media is not that cut and dry where it's like, hey, if everybody could just use this hook and use this title and use this caption and their videos would do that, make hundreds of thousands of views every single time, they would do that.

The algorithm is so intricately woven and detailed and specific.

There are so many different factors that come into play that if you think it's one thing, it's probably not.

It could be 5 different things.

What you do is you test it.

And that's obviously where I come in, in terms of like, obviously I can be like- it's like sometimes on your own, on your own, just like try it, just through trial and error, just go through trial and error.

Like, trial and error will teach you a lot more than sitting and thinking.

but that's definitely the benefit of just like having someone else to look at it and be like, do this, right?

And obviously Dakota is gonna always benefit from the fact that she takes action so quickly, because she gets the best results because she doesn't wait around.

She's like, yeah, you think I should do that?

I'm like, yes, that you should do this.

And I said, I believe she has potential to be the most followed esthetician on the internet, so stay tuned.

But whenever you're trying to figure out why did a piece of content not do as good as it did the first time, you have to really break that piece of content down, break down the all the elements that make it up.

What else could be contributing to this?

What are all the elements that went into this video?

Utilizing the data, the analytics, the comments, right?

We're looking through the comments.

I'm looking at the comments, I'm looking at what they're saying.

I say, well, it looks like this is what- it's like all this is information and data to help you with your next post.

And you feel like you try to duplicate the post that did really well, it brought you a lot of followers, got you a lot of views, and then it didn't do the same thing- try something else.

Bring another portion of that video to the forefront and figure out how can I break this down and separate these little pieces that built this together, right?

Hope this helps.

Make sure you go follow Dakota if you haven't.
