Facets are now Topics and Attributes

Hello, Quick video on an update we're doing mainly to the question coding page.

But it's basically regarding the name facets throughout we heard a lot of feedback that facets as a concept are confusing.

So we decided to not talk about facets anymore but instead to talk about either topics or attributes in the background.

These are still facets but we're no longer using that term.

So what are topics?

Topics are basically things that get set, shown and felt really in the interview as it pertains to the study guide.

So things like the reason to adopt AI or not barriers to using a certain product, certain needs that are being unmet, those kind of things, that's what gets surfaced in a topic and then attributes, that's more who the participant is, like age, country, income, those kind of things.

And those are typically also things that you filter by.

it's not necessarily something that you really learn from the interviews as more description of the participant itself.

So that's basically the two filters you have here right now.

Either you browse through all the topics, either you browse through all the attributes.

But the question coding page itself still looks the same.

Also you can still filter as before.

Before it wasn't like a top bar.

Right now it's also here on the right hand side.

But you can very easily filter by common filters like for example gender where you can say like hey I only want to look at male for example.

You can still save those filters, also extend them with more sophisticated rules, etc.

So all of that filtering that still exists and something new that we also added as part of this update.

It's actually quite cool is the breakdown by functionality.

So right now you can for example say I want to do a full breakdown by household income and you immediately see all of the question coding here broken down by the participants incomes.

Right.

So you can also show this as a table for example so you immediately get some sort of like a cross tab where like two dimensions are stacked against one another.

You can do this on the topics view as well as on the attributes view.

but basically that's functionality we added as well.

So let me know what you think.

hope this is useful.

but in the end comes down to facets are no longer a thing in the platform.

It is still a thing in the background but we no longer surface it to the end user and instead we talk about topics and attributes.

Thanks.
