Automating Video Edits with Tella Agent Skills 🎬

I'm going to show you some amazing stuff that you can do with skills and the Tella agent.

So this is a video I shared last week.

it consists of an intro like this.

Where it's a full screenshot of my camera.

It has this nice little text animation that comes in, in the bottom left.

and then it cuts to this layout which is sort of the core layout for the demo, where it's sort of a cutout version of me and the full screen and then it sort of like switches to shots of my camera like this at other points in the video to sort of keep the visual variety and keep it engaging.

On top of that there's also the full cleanup of the video, removing mistakes, filler words and silences.

and then there's a bunch of zoom effects and settings with, with the zooms.

So I didn't want to have manually go through all of those steps to recreate this in my next video.

And I also didn't really want to have to tell the agent all of these steps that it needs to do for the next video.

And so what I've done is I have turned this the core edit of this video into a skill.

So if you look over here, basically I said turn turn this into a skill.

It's called clean external demo.

the core idea was, is what I've described.

This sort of intro, the text effect, this layout here and then switching between the various layouts as well as the zooms and the core edit.

So you can see all of the details in there.

And this is now saved as something that I can reuse for other videos.

I also made this video which was our September feature recap.

And if I play this back you'll see see what the intro looks like.

So in this we've got this really cool like staggered text effect.

I can just like slow this down and we can play this in the background.

and you can see it staggers in like that behind me, in front of me.

And then we have this cool montage of footage that is from later in the video, it then grabs and puts this cool treatment on, and then creates this nice montage so that the viewer has a sense of what's coming ahead.

so I spent a lot of time creating this intro and I was like well I would love to be able to use this intro for other videos because the sort of core look is quite cool.

And so just like the previous video I showed you, I turned this into a skill.

and this was just for the intro.

So where the last video was like create a skill over the core whole edit.

This skill is just for creating this eye catching intro.

And so we called it the scatter preview intro.

Its core job was as I've described.

But then the agent kind of adds a bunch more stuff to make sure it's, flexible enough to adapt to different types of videos.

And you can see all of that in there that's been added to my skill library.

And so I can just go reuse this when I want to.

So now I'm going to show you what it looks like when you combine both of those skills.

The first one which is this core overall edit and the second one which is this intro.

And so this is a video that I edited a couple weeks ago.

I reset it fully it.

I did nothing else.

I just said take the raw original footage and run these two skills on it.

And so now we can see how this looks.

Subtitle translations and some crazy effects for yours.

So there you go.

the rest of the video continues like this where it's, this layout, it cuts back to me in a few moments.

It you can see on the little thumbnail there it adds little titles for the topic changes.

and then of course it also did the intro that we wanted.

So play that back again.

It gets the staggered text effect, it adds the clicking sound that was also in the original and then it also does a super fast montage of the stuff that's coming in the video.

And what's cool about this, we'll play this back once more.

There wasn't exactly the same moment in the intro here to create the, the montage in the exact same way as the previous one.

And the previous one it like did the montage on the beats of a a particular phrase or part of the sentence where it made a lot of sense.

One big video is is what it was in the original one.

There wasn't the same opportunity for that.

And so instead it made A shorter faster montage and timed it with the end of the sentence, where we're just about to transition into to the main content of the video.

So we watch that once more.

Let's jump into the updates.

Like that's a perfect moment to do this.

And instead of trying to sync it up to the text it just like blasts through these little clips in this really cool way.

So I think that's awesome.

Where you can have an edit that might seem quite brittle and that it can't be adapted to something but the agent can make it something that's flexible enough to adapt to kind of any video you throw at it.

So let's actually take a look at how I ran those skills and So I started this session and I basically just used the command to run both of these skills, the slash command.

So I just did clean external demo and then slash, scatter preview intro and that's all I did.

I didn't add anything else into the prompt.

and so I submitted that and then it took 17 minutes.

I came back and this is it.

That's all I've done except I did update the skill to fix one little technical thing with the text.

But that was all I did.

And it's basically one shot, this video, both in the edit and in the style that I want.

and you get this full rundown of what it did.

So instead well instead of the scatter text effect it called it a topic burst.

and it also explained a few things that differ from the skills which is great because these skills aren't going to fit exactly to every video.

Instead you want this flexibility where they can adapt which is awesome.

I've run these two skills on a bunch of videos to test this and it works really great.

So the thing to take away from this video skills are an incredibly powerful way for you to take a lot of work that you put into one video either manually or with the agent and then package that up into something that you can basically reuse on another video almost perfectly in some cases, with way less effort.

Like this whole video took 17 minutes to edit.

Like, that's crazy fast.

For a 20 minutes of footage, to then be edited into, like, this level of production in, 17 minutes is amazing.

I highly recommend playing around with skills.

we're going to keep experimenting with them, and I'll share more of what I learned here.
