This is Bakari and I want to thank you for becoming a beta tester for Kinetic Notebook.

And in this video I'm going to show you just some basic overview of how to use Kinetic Notebook.

And then I will have a couple other videos that go into more deep detail.

So basically what you want to do when you open up Kinetic Notes, and I'm pretty sure you've already registered and you have an account, you can go up here and you can click on your name and email address and go down to Settings Settings.

And here you can upload a avatar if you want and put it here and then just click the save button.

When you don't do that, you also can, in the settings you can select dark mode if you like that and I prefer light mode in this one.

And then you can also select a different accent color for your user interface here.

So if you want green you can do that or other color.

And then you can go down and there's a couple of behaviors that you can, you can select to keep, enable or turn off.

One is each note can have Action task and so you can select to.

When you, when you complete a task, that task will go to the bottom of the list or you can have it stay where it is.

And then another one is they'll have a feature called Daily Notes in the Day View.

And you can select to have that taken, you know, removed or not show up in Daily View or you can leave it there as well.

So you'll see more of that when you go over to the Day View.

So that's the settings right now I might be adding more setting and preferences as time goes on.

So let's go back to the Day view.

This is our day view here and we're going to more detail about it in a second.

What I suggest though is go down to the study guide here.

And this study guide goes over the different features of Kinetic, note and I would suggest going down to the number three here and select New Project.

So we're going to create a new project.

Click this new project button or you can click here.

Now when you go into the new project, there are different types of projects that you probably will want to do in Kinetic Notes.

One is Reference Actions, Learning, investigation and practice.

And you'll see a little kind of definition of each type of project that you will be setting up.

For this one I would say let's start off with learning and learning is we say we're going to learn about Kinetic Notebook, right?

And so let's put a title, learn about Kinetic Notes, or let's put Notebook, okay?

And if once, you start getting a lot of, you know, several different notes.

Notes in there, you might want to say, I want to review my notes in this project at least three times a week.

And so again, the purpose of Kinetic Notebook is to, you know, create notes for a project and review those, review those notes on a regular basis.

And so we'll go into more detail about that, in a minute.

So another thing you want to do is an outcome here might be to learn the features of Kinetic Notebook, okay?

And so we do that.

And then you can put other outcomes that you have.

But that's mainly the purpose of this project is to learn about, how to use Kinetic Notebook, right?

And so then you go down and you can also click a.

You can select a color for the project.

This is when you start having more than one project, having a color, there might be useful things.

Sometimes my main project, I will use red.

so that just kind of distinguishes, really kind of stands out.

And so then click that and we create the project there.

And so now we see we have a project, and it's a learning project.

And you go in and you'll see as you begin to review your notes, this is the progress bar here.

You can create a new note here as well.

And then also notes that you schedule for this project could also appear here, but they will also appear in the day view as well.

So you'll see that a lot of.

There's a lot of different ways to do the same thing inside of Kinetic Notes.

And you can go up here too, to edit this, the name or the title of it if you want.

And then if you want to archive or delete it, you can do this.

All right, so we're gonna go back to day view here.

In the day view, you will see different sections here.

These are called.

This first section is or is called Reminders.

And these reminders are not notes.

They're like a scratch pad for just anything that you just want to park up here really quickly.

And they will.

These notes will not be saved to your all notes library.

But you can, you know, add, you know, a quick note here.

You can copy those notes and you can also delete the note and they'll go away.

If you don't want to see the reminders, you can just hide it here by clicking that button.

You can also, capture notes Here, or you can capture with quick capture and we'll go over that in a second.

And you also can save a note again to your project.

If you have more than one, you select that.

And then, here you have what's called Daily Notes.

And Daily Notes can be kind of notes that are outside of projects.

Maybe they are your journal or it may be reflections, anything that you want to use it for.

This is outside a, particular project.

They don't go there.

And so again, you can select to hide that.

And you can also go into settings to disable Daily Notes if you want as well.

And then again you can start here, start capturing, which again is another way to capture your first note.

So we will say, let's, say learn, the features of Kinetic, Kinetic Notebook or Notes, either one, connect notes and those.

And then you can add it to, this project here.

And then when you click here to capture it.

So when you capture that here, you can go to the day view and usually it'll.

It'll be here and you can click on it right there.

And when you open it up, you'll see there you open this up in the editor.

Now what?

You notice that the first line that you put into a note, will automatically become the title of the note.

So whatever you, when you're typing your notes, basically think about that first line as being the title.

And you don't want to type an entire paragraph because then that entire paragraph will become your title.

But if you make a mistake and do that, you can just select the entire thing and delete it or, rewrite it.

Okay, so again, you know, you can start making a list.

Say you want to do a checklist and you want to like, say I want to learn about the detail panel, what I'm going to go over right now.

Or say you want to click Return.

Say I want to go over the smart, list, feature.

And I might want to go over the feed the favorites feature there, you know, so stop making a list of features that you want to learn about in Kinetic Notes.

And matter of fact, I may send you a list of features that you might want to make sure that you cover.

All right, and so here's your detail panel over here.

And in your details panel, you have different statuses, Active, incubating, reference, and archive.

So basically active, you want to keep, you know, like if you want to keep your note in a backlog, say you don't want it to show up, in your day view for a while.

You Just want to backlog it until you have a chance to like going into more like, what do you want to do with that note?

you can keep it in backlog or active.

I pretty much, after I create a note, I typically either do it as incubating or reference.

A reference note is just information that you want to keep, but you're not necessarily.

You might want to review it, but you might not be adding too much to it.

it's, you know, it's pretty much added there.

And then you can archive a note and it won't show up.

It will go into archives.

You can always come back and pull it out of archives.

But you, can do that.

So would, you know.

So just decide what you want to do with that note and then what kind of priority it is.

Top, high, medium, or low.

This really doesn't have too much, of anything.

It's just for you in terms of what kind of, level of status of progress you want to identify it as.

And then you want to make sure that you select a project from.

And then here you want to go.

This is most important is go into a review.

So you want to decide do you want to review this?

Daily, weekly, monthly, or so many, every three days, every four days.

And you can just click these little buttons here to go up and down, there.

Or you can go back and say, no review.

And then you also can choose to have the note appear on a particular day.

So say, you know, let's do this, this.

It'll click today here and it'll, It'll do that.

And so you'll resurface on August 25th or whatever, whatever day that you pick.

And say if you were to do it daily, you want to say, I want to review this, note every day until, say, August 31st.

And so then it'll stop appearing.

And then you can also choose to, park a note, you know, in your day view.

And let's say, say we want to park it in next steps.

So you want to have it there so that you can come back and say, I want to add some next steps to it.

And the next steps are like next actions that you want to have for the note.

So you can put anything here.

It says, you know, add more features to my, checklist.

And you can do that.

And then you just click return and that creates a next action there.

And then you can also favorite this note if you want to make sure that you can find it in Your favorites list over here.

And then you can also go in and you can add images or PDFs to notes as well.

So some of this will be covered in the more advanced you know, videos.

But and then again you can also start a checklist or a bullet list if you want in there.

You can also go in and you can say you want to highlight.

And also if you select it again and let's see, this little thing here gets getting in the way and select it again.

Now you see that that note has appeared in due for review.

So basically you say it's due today, you know, you want to review it or whatever days that you have it set up.

And then once you click, you click, you click it mark reviewed right here and it's done.

And then right now notice that we also put that note in top of mine.

There might be some notes that you really want to make sure that they're in the form forefront and that they stay in the debut for a while.

So you can put those here.

And then also those top of mind notes get, get pinned over here.

And so this is really great.

Again once you start having a lot of notes, you put them in your top of mind there.

And then you have your after project.

So right now you only have one project.

So we can open that up and you notice that you already have a note reviewed and you see the progress bar there according to how many times you want to review notes in that project.

All right, so then go back to day view again and you can see that you have favorites if you, if you mark a note with favorites, that'll show up here.

And then you can also create smart list here and say for example you have a note that has actions.

So remember that note has an action in there.

So this smart list tells you notes to have an action.

Notes that don't have any action or frequently referenced notes, notes that you up that you reference a lot, you know, several times.

recently updated notes, you know that will appear there.

And you notice that this because this note was updated, you'll see that it appears there and then nothing appears in the Favorites.

But if you go back to this note, for example, and you click here, right?

And let's see, I thought we can add a note to Favorites from here, but you really can't do that.

But you can again, if you open the note up and we go to over here to favor Favorites, and then we'll go back to Smart List, and then you'll see that that note appears in Favorites, and then same thing with top of mind and a scheduled note.

So that note is scheduled.

And you can also, as you begin to learn about how to use Kinetic Notes, you can go here and, click and create Smart lists based upon the rules here.
