Customize Base44 App

In this video, I'm going to show you the basics of editing and customizing your app.

When you open the link that is shared with you, you will get to a page that looks something like this.

Now, keep in mind, you may have purchased a different app, but the process is still the same.

You do not want to sign in or create an account.

Do not do that.

What you're going to do instead is go down here to the lower right, click edit with base 44, and then you're going to click Clone this app.

A new tab will open and you will see base 44 doing its thing.

And it may take a minute or two depending, so we're just going to let it do its thing.

Now you will see that the cloned version is in your base 44 account.

Pretty cool.

So as you can see, the preview section is over here on the right and there's a dialog box over here on the left.

The dialog box is where you're going to tell base 44 what changes you want to make.

So for example, you may want to completely change the color scheme of the app.

Maybe you have your own brand colors that you want to use.

Maybe you're not sure.

Let's just type something in as an example.

I might say I want to change the aesthetic vibe of this app to something with dark rainbow colors.

I also want to add.

Let's see, I also want to add a footer with my name and contact information.

You might want to do this on your app because people will identify it with you.

So.

So I would put Mary Schiller Maryaryschiller uh.com let's see what base 44 does when I click send.

Now we can see that it has changed the vibe to something with dark rainbow colors.

But of course you can do whatever you like if you have a specific brand look and feel.

Just tell base 44 what you want it to look like.

I I want to point out something here that you may overlook.

You can check how the app looks on different sizes.

So right now it's on the desktop computer size.

You can see how it looks on a tablet.

You can also see how it looks on a phone.

Probably most people will use these things on a phone here.

It did add my name.

I might also just link that to my website as well.

And I want you to know that it's not just the aesthetics that you can change.

You can change the content as well.

On the Long Form Lab page, please add substack as an option to platform and make sure that these suggestions fit with substacks.

What do I want to say?

Typical rules like more storytelling and certainly more in depth than other platforms.

Let's see what happens.

That took about a minute or so and it says substack is now a platform option on Long Form Lab.

Another step you'll want to take to customize your app is to go to the Dashboard.

Right here we are in preview and we're going to click on Dashboard.

You'll want to change the name of the app just by clicking on the little icon You can also upload a new icon for the app itself, You'll want to change the description again.

Just click the little edit button, and then you can simply edit that to say whatever you'd like it to say.

So that the app really becomes yours.

Of course, you can also change any of, the wording anywhere on the app.

All you have to do is say something like, I'm going to just copy this text.

I can say, please change that to this.

Let me come up with something else.

let's let it do its thing.

And now it has changed that text.

but it's really important to come back over here and test everything as if you were a user, just to make sure everything is working okay.

And if something doesn't work, you can just ask base 44 to fix it for you.

That's one thing I love about Base44 and other platforms like this.

Like Lovable, for instance.

Once you've made all the customizations and you've checked everything, there's just a couple more steps to take to publish and share your app and you're ready to go.
