Solving Logical Conclusion Reading Questions 📚

With this type of question, when they're asking you, it can be properly concluded that which of the following is also true.

So I'm using the text to almost prove an answer choice, or I'm using the text to choose an answer choice that can be a logical conclusion from some part of the text or the text as a whole.

So that is my criteria.

Most people judge the prevalence of a particular disease based on how often it is reported in the news.

Newspapers report more often on diseases that have visible symptoms such as skin conditions or the flu, than they do more than they do on, more widespread conditions that have less visible symptoms like hypertension or diabetes.

Okay, so now I'm going to read the answer choices.

It is easier for diseases such as hypertension or diabetes to go untreated than it is for diseases like skin conditions or the flu.

I could see why this can be an interesting answer choice, but here they're making that leap that it's easier for those diseases to go untreated.

But I'm adding that extra element of that.

It's because of the detection and so they're not detected.

And so that is a big, that is a bit of a big leap.

I'm going to keep it.

Maybe I'll find a better answer choice.

Readers of newspapers tend to overestimate the prevalence of diseases with visible symptoms such as skin conditions or the flu, relative to the prevalence of conditions like hypertension or diabetes.

I can certainly conclude that because if you're reading these newspapers or you're watching the news and they over report these things that are more obvious, you'll overestimate their prevalence.

And so that is an easier leap to make.

I think answer choice Babel is a better answer choice.

The time that newspapers, that newspaper reporters spend researching health stories is directly related to the number of readers who will be affected by.

There's no way that we can make this conclusion.

We don't have that data to make this conclusion.

The number of cases of skin conditions and flu greatly increases after each newspaper article that includes detailed descriptions of these diseases.

There's no way that we can make that conclusion either.

Going from reports to number of cases, the usual selection of health stories for newspapers is determined by the number of reporters available for assignment.

There's absolutely no way we can make that conclusion.

And so therefore the correct answer is answer choice B.

And you'll notice that, sometimes it will be easier to choose or it'll be easier to eliminate an answer choice that seems interesting or plausible.

When you identify an answer choice that is clearly the correct or better answer choice.
