00:00

Hey there, Justin.

00:00

Here, I just wanted to take a moment and give you a behind the scenes look of a full lesson from start to finish so you can understand what all is in the course and whether this is the perfect resource for you to learn anatomy and physiology.

00:13

So here I am in the endocrine system.

00:15

You can see here on the left here all the lessons that are in the endocrine system.

00:19

I can also see those if I scroll down here and you'll notice that you.

00:23

Every lesson has a video icon.

00:26

So here's the video lesson itself and then there'll be a practice section that goes with that lesson just below it.

00:33

And so in this course I've got everything organized around this input, connect, test framework, input, when you initially learn the information, connect where you really start to understand it and connect all the ideas together.

00:43

And then test where you test yourself with spaced repetition so that you really remember that stuff long term.

00:49

So I'm going to click into lesson 2.2 as an example here it's endocrine organs and their functions.

00:55

Kind of an intro lesson for this unit.

00:58

I'm going to click into it and you'll see here at the top.

01:00

The first thing you're going to see in every lesson is, an objective.

01:03

And as you finish the lesson, you learn the information.

01:07

You can check this off so that you can track your progress through the course.

01:12

and this also tells you exactly what you're going to be learning in each lesson.

01:15

So that's kind of handy there.

01:16

Then you.

01:16

Then here I've got the video lesson.

01:18

And so a high quality video like you're used to seeing on YouTube.

01:21

But all of these are new videos that I've created for the course.

01:25

You can see here I'm not gonna play through the video, but I'll kind of scrub through it.

01:27

So you can see I've got the intro here, here where we're learning about the hypothalamus and pituitary gland.

01:32

I can use the timestamps at the bottom here where I can go through and be like, okay, I wanna zoom to the part where I've got the adrenal glands, where I'm talking about that, or the pancreas.

01:40

So it's really helpful for kind of finding your way through the video if you need to jump to a particular part.

01:45

Of course, I got a recap at the end.

01:47

I've got a spot where you can kind of test yourself with the blank diagram there.

01:50

If I go down from there, I have the lesson summary so I've got the nice full diagram right there that you can use.

01:56

If I scroll down from that, I've got tables that kind of organize the information.

02:00

And so it's kind of like having almost like a mini textbook right below the video lesson.

02:06

So you can reference and look at the information kind of in text form and see the, see the diagrams kind of broken down.

02:13

I've got some clinical insights built into these.

02:15

So as you're learning about the thyroid gland, you can be like, okay.

02:17

It's, going to tell me a little bit about hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.

02:20

which, of course, we go into more in the thyroid video later on in the course.

02:25

So there's going to be the lesson summaries down at the end.

02:27

When I'm done with that, I can click mark as done here.

02:29

And then I can go on to the practice part of this.

02:33

So here's what the practice is going to look like.

02:35

I've got it broken up into connect as well as test down here.

02:40

So the connect part is going to have some different activities for it.

02:43

This one I have an actual practice session video, which, is kind of cool.

02:47

It's me kind of guiding you through stuff that I would have you do if we were, like, in person together in a classroom.

02:54

These are the activities I would have you do in order to learn this information better.

02:57

So I'll kind of just show you this real quick.

02:59

Again, I've got the timestamps here.

03:01

I've got some activities that we're going to do together.

03:03

One is going to be sketching and labeling diagrams.

03:05

If you notice, this diagram right here does not look super pretty because this is how I would actually practice it.

03:10

I'm not going to make a perfectly artistic diagram.

03:13

I'm going to be sketching this out quickly.

03:15

So I'm practicing actively recalling it, seeing how things are related to each other, where things are located in relation to each other and all of that.

03:23

And so this is me actually, like, guiding you through that process.

03:26

You do it yourself and you kind of compare it to what I've done.

03:28

And I kind of debrief about it as well.

03:31

And here we go through and, I'm going through and remembering the hormones and the functions of all of those.

03:36

And then here at the end, I actually go to my torso model and we go through and I give you practice, like, identifying this stuff.

03:43

So I'm pointing to different organs here, and then you're identifying what those are.

03:47

Just like we would if we were in class together.

03:49

If you go down from there, I've got some other practice activities.

03:52

And again, you're not going to do all of these activities, but you're going to choose the ones that are the most helpful for you.

03:57

And as you're learning each, topic.

03:59

And so here I've got a practice labeling.

04:01

So I'm going to label a few things here and it's going to tell me whether I got it right or wrong.

04:05

Here's the parathyroid glands, and if I get one wrong, it'll let me know.

04:10

So let's say I label this pancreas, the pituitary gland.

04:12

It's going to be instant feedback that that was wrong.

04:14

It's really helpful in kind of learning those.

04:16

If I want to type those, practice typing them.

04:19

So it's a little bit more challenging.

04:20

I can do that as well.

04:22

A lot of the activities or a lot of the lessons will have sorting practice.

04:25

So in this one I've got.

04:26

Can you sort, this into whether it's an endocrine thing or a non endocrine thing?

04:30

So, like, lymph nodes are non endocrine.

04:32

Filtering blood is non endocrine.

04:33

acetylcholine is.

04:34

Where's the endocrine ones?

04:35

There we go.

04:35

Pituitary gland, adrenal glands, insulin.

04:38

If I get one wrong, it's going to give me instant feedback that I had it wrong.

04:42

Or I can use manual check where I can just sort them all and then at the end I can check and it'll tell me which ones I got right or wrong.

04:50

So that's all under the connect category.

04:52

Because really the purpose of this is to initially still learn the information, connect it all together, build this kind of network of information in your brain.

05:01

Once you're done with that, you can go down here to the test section and that's where you have sets of flashcards and practice quizzes that you can do.

05:07

So let me show you the flashcards here real quick.

05:09

I'm going to click Start Practice.

05:11

It's going to take me to this and it's going to have an image or a word here that I need to know.

05:15

So.

05:16

So in this case, it's the adrenal gland.

05:17

And let's say that I know the adrenal gland really well.

05:19

It releases cortisol, it releases epinephrine.

05:21

so I know that one pretty well.

05:22

I'll reveal the answer.

05:23

And yeah, I already knew all this really well.

05:25

I'm going to click Easy.

05:26

And it's going to track what I click for each of these.

05:29

Let's say I get to this one and I don't remember what this is.

05:33

Is that the thyroid gland?

05:34

Obviously it's the pancreas, but let's say that I don't know that one.

05:38

So I'm going to click reveal answer.

05:39

I'm like, that was the pancreas.

05:41

It, it creates insulin to lower blood sugar, glucon to raise, and I'm going to click either hard or again.

05:46

And if I click one of these two, it's actually going to bring this flashcard up again in this same practice session.

05:51

So I get another attempt at it.

05:53

So I'm going to click again for that one.

05:55

And then I'm just going to click through this full set of flashcards here.

06:00

And notice the only one it's going to bring back up at the end.

06:03

We're only seeing these all once.

06:05

Except for the pancreas.

06:07

It brought this one back up because I marked it as hard or again.

06:12

And so it brings that back up this time I'm going to say, okay, I remember it was the pancreas.

06:16

It regulates blood sugar, but I'm feeling good about it.

06:19

But it's not easy for me yet.

06:20

I'm going to click good on that one.

06:22

And then I get all my results right here.

06:23

And so I can see all the ones like what I clicked for each of those.

06:26

And I can use this to track my progress.

06:28

I got an average result of 3.71.

06:30

Maybe I'll try that again tomorrow and see if I can increase that average result.

06:34

really see that number going up, which is helpful, as I'm learning.

06:38

So that was the flashcards.

06:39

And then we also have practice quizzes.

06:41

So I'm going to start a quiz.

06:42

I'm not going to finish a quiz because it's 10 questions.

06:45

So the bone dissolving cells that are released stored calcium.

06:47

That's going to be osteoclasts.

06:48

And I'll check that.

06:49

And it's going to give me instant feedback as well as an explanation to go along with each of these.

06:53

And we've got different types.

06:56

If I get one wrong, let's say T3 and T4s is, not regulating.

06:59

That's regulating metabolism primarily.

07:01

It's going to give me the explanation there.

07:03

It's going to give me instant feedback about it.

07:04

And if I go to here now, I've got a matching so I can go through and I can match T3 and T4.

07:09

Is produced by the thyroid, alright, so I've matched all of those.

07:13

I had that post here pituitary because it says the one that releases it, not the one that makes it.

07:16

I checked those, I got those.

07:17

All right, but if I got one wrong it would tell me.

07:19

And then I've also got multi select.

07:21

So which of the following gland organs describe as having a significant role in more than one body system?

07:25

alright, so that would be in this case I think the thymus, pancreas, those two.

07:31

All right, so I could go through and at the end of that it's going to tell me a report of what I got right and what I got wrong and everything there.

07:37

So this is.

07:38

These practice questions, these practice quizzes are a way for me to test my own understanding and information from that of course I can also go out of here and I can go directly to the flashcards and directly to the question.

07:49

So if I go to the flashcards endocrine system, I have lots of options here and I could practice all of the endocrine system flashcards and see this completion number go up and see what my retention health is.

08:00

And so I can kind of tells me when I need to go back and practice these more.

08:04

So that can be really helpful.

08:05

As well as in the questions I can make my own little quizzes.

08:08

So I could click endocrine system and let's say that I want to do practice questions with just these three sections right there.

08:15

I could make myself a 10 question quiz with multiple sections there.

08:18

So I can kind of create my own practice test based off of what topics I'd like to review and that will give me my own little quiz to take right there.

08:27

Alright, so hopefully that gives you a little more context of what you're actually getting in the program and hope to see you in the course.

08:33

All right, bye.
