Is the A&P2 course right for teachers? 🩺

Hey there, Justin here.

I've been getting quite a few questions from teachers about my new AP2 course.

So I wanted to take a moment just to answer some of those questions so that you can make a decision about, hey, is this course the right thing for you as a teacher or not?

So you can make an informed decision.

So my target person that I'm kind of.

That I always have in mind when I'm creating this ANP2 course is a student who is an undergraduate student.

Maybe they're a nursing or pre nursing student.

or they could be studying for something else like ot, pt, massage therapist, any of those medical school, any of those things.

And they are struggling in A and P1 and 2.

And so for AP2, they need some extra support.

And so I'm covering everything that's generally covered in an undergraduate A&P2 course.

And so students who are taking ANP2, they need extra help with it.

Then this kind of has everything that they need to learn all in one place with like, great practice activities, great videos, all that kind of stuff.

So are all the resources they need.

So would tenant teachers benefit from this or not?

I think in general, if you're looking for something where like your students can all sign into it and you can see their progress and all that sort of thing, I don't have that set up yet.

That's something I'd love to do in the future.

So some resource that like teachers could buy a school license for and use with all of their students and that sort of thing.

So that this doesn't have that.

It does have videos in it that you could pull up and show your students.

Right?

Like if you're logged in, that sort of a thing.

But it doesn't have kind of the whole learning management system that a teacher would use with all of their students.

However, teachers may benefit from it in other ways.

So I want to go through first, if you're a high school teacher, then if you're a college professor.

So if you're a high school teacher, just know that the content here does go way above the high school level.

I taught high school anatomy and physiology, for over a decade.

And I think that's one of the benefits that I have is I'm used to taking these complex concepts and breaking it down, and simplifying it to a way that high schoolers can understand and do well with.

But here I'm going all the way in on undergraduate ANP2 content, which is just way more in depth than I used to teach in my High school classes.

But if you're an A and P teacher and a lot of people get assigned A and P without having a super strong anatomy and physiology background.

That was my case, actually.

I studied biological engineering in college.

But then when I started teaching I hadn't, I hadn't, I was not an expert in anatomy physiology at that point.

And so it was, I was really learning a lot as I was teaching, teaching it in those first few years.

And so if you're in that boat and just like, hey, I just want to, I just want to learn a ton of A and P so I can better help my students, then this might be really helpful for you.

now the content, like I said, is going to be above the level, but a lot of the stuff in here is stuff that I taught to my high school students.

I just maybe didn't teach it to the level of depth, that I'm going in this course.

But it would be great for a teacher to expand their background understanding of anatomy, physiology and just to brush up on those concepts.

If you're a college professor, then this could be a helpful thing to help you kind of navigate, hey, what's a different way to explain some of these concepts that my students really struggle with?

Or what's a way that I could this concept down, organize this information in a different way?

What are some better diagrams that I could use?

Not that all of my stuff is better than what's in textbooks and stuff, but I, I have taken a lot of time to really think through every diagram that I'm adding.

Like what, like what is the, what is the most simple, straightforward, but also not like leaving a bunch of stuff out kind of way that I can present this information and present it step by step, one piece at a time.

So it could be helpful for you if you're looking just to how can I better explain these concepts?

How can I better help my students understand?

This could be a really helpful course for you.

So, so it's not the course to buy if you're like, I need an all in one solution that your students can log into and all have access to and all that sort of a thing.

But it could be a really helpful resource as you think about your own teaching, your own knowledge and understanding.

Especially if you're at that high school level and don't have a really, really strong background in anatomy, physiology.

so yeah, if you have any questions at all, feel free just to reply to this email and I'll answer you back.

And I'LL give you the honest, my honest opinion about.

I don't want anybody to buy this course if it's not like, something that will help them, help them out.

and I really believe that.

And while you're here, if you want, just a quick look, kind of behind the scenes of what we have so far.

this is kind of what it looks like behind the scenes or actually in the course.

Right.

I've got these videos.

So some of them, they range from anywhere from 14 minutes.

You know, I've got a couple longer videos just because the topic very long.

Like this one's 26 minutes.

I have, I think, two that go up into like the 30 minutes kind of range.

And I'm just going really, you know, in depth with, the topics here.

So, like here, for example, I've got the thyroid gland, and I'm going to go through here and talk about the thyroid anatomy.

So what's all the stuff kind of around it and all that sort of thing.

And then I might go into, in this one, I go into the HPT axis and kind of the feedback loop, for the endocrine system here.

And some of the effects of all of this.

Whereas, like, in my high school class I would have just said that, hey, the thyroid gland increases metabolism.

Whereas in this class I'm going into like, okay, it actually does that by increasing your basal metabolic rate.

It's going to change the catecholamine sensitivity so that epinephrine and norepinephrine have a greater effect.

I'm getting into those more detailed mechanisms.

And then I'm giving some information on things like, hey, here's the types of cells that are in the thyroid Gl.

What they do, or even things like this where I'm getting maybe into the mechanism of thyroid hormone being released and then replenishing, the thyroid hormones and getting into some of the mechanisms there and really trying to tie it all together with the organelles of the cell and that sort of thing.

getting into some of the pathology, like hyperthyroidism and Graves disease and all of that.

So this is kind of just an example of what that looks like.

And then, of course, I have these lesson summaries below it.

They go into all of the information that's involved in that.

So you can kind of see all that at a glance and see all those diagrams and all that sort of a thing.

So that's just kind of what the course looks like.

And then of course there are practice activities that go with all this as well.

So So if I go into here you can see like practice labeling activities.

These are the target cells there.

these are post synaptic cells.

All that kind of stuff to practice, stuff where you label the different types of signaling in this case stuff where you're organizing things and getting feedback on that as well as flashcards to practice with practice quizzes and all that.

so there's a lot of practice kind of built into, into the program that's kind of a behind the scenes of what the main components of the course kind of include.
