How to Use Sender Profiles in Sent

Today we're going to be walking through sender profiles.

This is a very important and very powerful feature that we have here at Sent.

And I'm sure you have a lot of questions about how it works, maybe what the recommendations or suggestions are on how to use it.

It.

No need to worry.

I'm here to walk you through how to create a sender profile.

What are the different use cases and probably guide you in the right direction of how you can use this yourself.

So without further ado, first off, you can see here there's already going to be some profiles configured and whatnot.

This is our demo account that we use when you first launch Sent.

You're not going to have the ability to create sender profiles until you first, complete onboarding with us.

And then from there on the left hand side, you'll see profiles appear and then you just unlock it.

So, the only difference between my screen and your screen is that I've already created some.

But really what I want to focus on here is once you do unlock it, how do we create it and what are the suggestions?

Alright, so first off, what exactly are center profiles?

In other words, these are tenants.

So if you want to have a multi tenant architecture, this is how you achieve that.

The way that we define things here at SENT is that the company that you sign up with and you enter all your KYC information with is going to be your organization.

Now this can take on two different forms.

One, you can be a big company with multiple sub companies or maybe multiple locations or maybe even multiple departments.

And that can be your sort of holding company or whatever else you want to call it.

The other case is if you're an isv.

So let's say I have a platform that allows donut shops to market to their customers.

It's an all in one donut.

Erp.

Let's think something insane here.

what I can do is I can have all these different tenants or center profiles for all the different donut shops that want to send messages to their clients.

They can be created here and I can have each one of them be isolated into their own center profile.

The next question you might have is, well, what does messaging branding look like for each one of these sub accounts?

Do they take on the organization's branding or do they have their own?

And can they send their own messages?

Well, it depends on what you want to do and how you want to set it up.

You can have a case where each one of these sub accounts use the same templates, the same type of messaging, maybe just passes different variables, if you will, and may maybe even uses the same branding as your organization.

So let's pretend again my fake Donut Erp.

We'll just call it Donut Erp for good times.

I could have templates that I create saying your order's on its way or 20% off at XYZ donut shop.

And then that could be sort of an easy way for them to just use those sort of templates.

That's case one.

Case two is you could also have each one of these have their own, branding and their own messaging that gets a little bit more into the compliance conversation of 10 DLC, where each one of those would have to then submit their own brand, submit their own campaign, and get both approved.

That is the cleaner way, and that is the way that allows each one of those to have their own, branding, their own campaign, to have all the messages appear as if they're coming from, we'll call it New York Donuts from Atlanta Donuts, and then from Chicago Donuts.

And Nowhere will donate RP be mentioned.

But those are some things to consider and some things to think about when creating these sender profiles and thinking about how you want to set up this architecture.

All right, I've been talking for almost five minutes now.

I'm almost out of breath.

Let's get into it.

Let's start making sender profiles.

So in the top right corner you'll see Create Sender profile.

Of course you can do these manually.

You can also create them programmatically.

Feel free to look at the API reference for how to do that.

All right, so let's say I've got a client.

All right, we're going to keep using this donut ERP example.

This client is NYC Donut Nuts.

We'll call them NYC D for short, Donut Shop.

And let's say they're in the West Village nyc.

All right, they're only going to send traffic to the us we'll go ahead and pick one of these numbers for them.

I like that first one.

Now you can choose to connect a WhatsApp account here if they do have one.

If you just want to skip this process and you only want to send sms, you can also do that.

So just for time, let's go ahead and skip.

And here's where it gets interesting in terms of how you configure your settings.

So when it comes to sharing contacts, as you can see here, allow contacts to be shared with other sender profiles or inherit the organization contacts.

I would recommend this.

Generally if everything or every sender profile falls under the same company or group of companies.

For example, you know, if I was NYC Donuts and I had multiple locations, then I would want to inherit all those contacts because it is all technically the same company.

However, in this case where I have clients that I'm serving, probably doesn't make sense to inherit all those contacts because we want that data isolated.

So we're going to go ahead and turn that off for message templates.

Same thing.

This is where it gets interesting.

You can choose to share the templates with other sender profiles or inherit the organization templates.

So continuing with this donor ERP example, probably don't want to share message templates between the other sender profiles because again we want to keep each tenant isolated but because we do have those templates that you know, I created for them to use, then we can turn on inherit organization templates and they'll have those pre populated, in your platform or my platform whenever they want to send.

So completely up to you.

If you don't want to provide any sort of, you know, templates, pre approved or pre created for them, you can always turn that off.

All right, so moving on here to organization billing.

So you do have a couple of different options.

The first one is organization billing, which means that the organization like again the company that you, that you own and that you work with will handle all the billing.

This allows you to, you know, make margin on the messages.

If you want to do any sort of different sort of pricing structure with your clients or however you handle it.

This gives you total control of how do you pass the costs on or make money on it, but you will be responsible for all of the billing.

The other option is use profile billing which would then require all of your clients or sub profiles to enter their own billing information.

And then you have mixed which allows you to inherit the organization with the ability to modify the profile.

All right, so in this case we're going to stick to organization billing and hit continue.

Alright, so moving on here to compliance configuration.

Earlier I had mentioned you do have to put some thought and make some decisions when it comes to your architecture with regards to compliance here.

So I'm going to walk you through the different options that there are and give you some examples of when to use each one.

The first is going to be use org TCR branded campaign.

Now let's pretend I'm McDonald's in this example, right?

As the organization and I have McDonald's New York, I have McDonald's Atlanta, I have McDonald's Los Angeles.

That is all the same brand, right?

And let's say I'm sending marketing messages, each one of those locations that is also the same marketing campaign that I could send to all the different locations.

So that's one example of when to use that first option, multiple locations.

The second option is use Org TCR brand with profile dedicated campaign.

So in TCR are you do have different use cases for each campaign.

let's say you have marketing, you have otp, you have customer care, right?

I won't walk you through all of them, but there are different avenues slash different use cases.

Now let's pretend I'm still McDonald's and I want each department to have its own sort of messaging, right?

Marketing department can still use marketing, let's say customer support.

I'll probably create a customer care campaign for those for those people.

And then let's say the tech department wants to create an OTP campaign for whenever people log into the McDonald's app, right?

So in that case it would all still be McDonald's but then each one of these departments for example would have their own campaign.

So that's another example of that second option right there.

The third option is going to be aligned with the ISV example.

So again let's pretend that I am donate ERP and I have all these different clients that I have all across the us Each one of them wants to get their own branding and their own campaign.

Then in that case I would do use profile branding campaign.

And now in these boxes I'm going to type in NYC donuts, so on and so forth.

All right, I'll put in my contact email here phone number, just going to do sent information so it doesn't throw an error.

We're a private profit company.

We intend to make money@ NYC donuts, fake tax ID number.

And then down here you'll see.

It'll give me the option to create the, brand specific, campaign here.

Just to move forward with this.

I'm going to go ahead and actually switch the option.

But hopefully that did a good job of explaining these three different ones right here and helps you understand the architecture slash which decision to make.

So we'll go ahead and hit continue.

All right, great.

So now the setup is complete and I'll hit finish.

And now you can see here, NYC Donuts has been created.

You can see the sender ID here.

This will be included in your API call so that you can actually differentiate between your different tenants.

And then you can see here, of course, we did not configure WhatsApp but SMS because we used the branded campaign that's already improved is ready to go.

So we're completed.
