Streamlining Legal Workflows with White Shoe AI ⚖️

Hi, welcome to Whitehu AI.

my name is Aaron Boersman.

I'm one of the founders here at ytu.

I want to show you how YTU works and more importantly, how it gets you better legal answers without asking you to become a prompt engineer or have a prompt PhD.

We're going to start with Co Counsel, which is what you can see on your screen here, which is what you'll see the first time that you log into the platform.

Let's take a quick look around and I'll show you the engine behind White Shoe called Firmiq.

So this is Co Counsel.

This is our ordinary and normal customary chat, functionality.

What this ultimately does is gives you lots of different options.

First and foremost, beyond just a window to type in your relevant prompts, ask questions, compare jurisdictions, draft a review, you have the ability to toggle reasoning methods, whether it's normal for the vast majority of legal questions or, or deep thinking when you need that extra bit of oomph behind those specific tasks.

We also have the ability here to toggle on and off our Gentic editor, and that actually gives you the ability to do contract redlining right Within White Shoes Web Portal, we also have connectors, which plugs into the things that you use most.

anything from Google Drive to Salesforce, all the way to your Microsoft ecosystem.

And even Box and Domo are the plugins we have today.

And we're constantly adding more.

Additionally, you have the library to choose from, which is a place where you can leverage custom prompts, you can leverage contract Playbooks, and you can also build Skills, which is currently in beta testing today.

And we're super excited about what's to come.

Lastly, you do have the ability to enhance existing prompts if you type one that's basic and want to make it better.

And then you also have the ability to attach files, whether it's directly from your computer or from the knowledge base that's inside this.

Now, before we get started, what I want to show you is what we call Firm iq, which is the foundation for how White Shoe works, as you can see here.

If we'll just open this up and tag Firm IQ and click in here.

Now, one of the biggest challenges to using AI is the prompting experience.

And if you used AI long enough, you've probably had some sort of prompt library that has prompts with pages and pages and pages and pages in them.

And the reason for that is you have so many pages of prompts because you're trying to ingest all of the context of who you are in an organization.

Every time you use.

So if you've started off by saying, you know, my name is Aaron Boersma, I'm the founder at White Shoe.

Here's our risk profile, here's where we're based, here's governing law.

All of those pieces, those are all things that are built into Firm IQ so that you never have to leverage them again.

So what I'll show you here is in this, when you open White Sheet for the first time, what you're going to do is you're going to open Firm IQ and you're going to start by clicking Company Profiles and this is where you can set up your company profile to start.

So for instance, you can see here, when I hit edit, you have the ability to update.

I've already filled this one in for White Shoe.

But we can show our company name, what the legal entity type is, the industry company size, all the way down to fiscal year.

And, and if we wanted to provide other jurisdictions where we're operating, we can absolutely do that here.

Additionally, there's this business operations tab where we can give a clear idea of what business we're actually in here at White Shoe.

What are our products and services, who are our competitors, our major customers, big suppliers?

Are there any key regulatory bodies and any industry specific regulations or legal challenges we're facing on an ongoing basis.

We also can input the structure of our legal team, including regulatory issues and litigation we're facing and even legal tech tools.

We have the ability to also update our risk and compliance.

So for example, if we want all of our answers out of White Shoe to be more moderate and balanced or more aggressive, we have the ability to set that once and not have to worry about it again.

And lastly, we have a place for governance and IP to provide any insights around board structure, governance policies, esg, all sorts of things like that.

So what I'm going to do is here is click save because I've already done this once before.

It usually takes only 5 to 10 minutes to set up your company profile.

And for our enterprise customers, you have the ability to set up multiple company profiles over here on the left.

So that means if you're managing a contract for one entity here and then another entity immediately later, you have the ability to very quickly switch between those organizations and, and all of that context move with you.

Now, it's one thing for AI to be able to understand who you are, but it's a totally different piece for it to actually give you an output that sounds more like you, which is why we've built Style rules into the platform.

Something you can set once and even have different style rules to hold to depending on the organization you're in.

So here we have a couple of options to set your style rules.

You can click detect with AI and drop a couple of examples into white shoe for this and then it'll set things like formatting citations, what's the citation style guide that you typically hold to?

Any preferences around language, even for pronouns, legal terminology preference, plain language requirements, also just structure.

These are very simple things like do you want an executive summary and a table of contents for all the answers that you receive.

And then lastly for more specialized elements for e.g.

list styles, defined terms, do you like them bold on the first use?

Company, name usage.

This is one that I really like of the full legal name on the first reference and then the company thereafter.

I think all of us can empathize with the half hour to an hour that we've spent going through a contract and updating just that company name usage to be in line with what is important within our organization.

But these are all things that you can set once and then they're actually going to come with you throughout everything in the platform.

Then lastly, we have our library within Firm iq.

This is where you can actually have a knowledge base where you can drop things like your company, playbooks, your different core documents that you're sort of leveraging every day that you want AI to continue to be working with.

We also have the ability to manage a prompt library within here and you can see we have tons of these that are here already.

you also have the ability to leverage contract Playbooks and these are playbooks that you can edit and create right here within the platform and showing you, for example RW SaaS.

So white shoe as a service agreement, you know, for us we note that as being a little bit more pro seller and we're showing you this just as an example.

We also have our non disclosure agreement playbooks that are all in here and can be used throughout.

And we also do have a template library that allows you to pull in different contract playbooks within here.

Now the beauty of within Firm IQ is that when you do create a contract playbook within here, your administrator is actually going to be able to control versioning within those.

So as an example I'll show you here.

this is a playbook that I most recently put together and I submitted it for review.

So if I wanted to continue to review it or continue to update it, I would click return to draft and Then I would go through, make the relevant updates and then hit submit for review.

And this actually would send it to our general counsel who would then make the relevant updates for us, which we really, really appreciate.

And then lastly, we have skills within the platform.

Skills are a really great way, similar to Claude skills to have more of an agentic experience through chat.

so if you use things like Claude Cowork, this is a great sort of legal centric way to leverage skills.

Now I will say that this is still in beta today, but our early customers are really, really loving this feature and we're super excited.

Now why is this important?

This is important for a couple of reasons.

One, prompting should not be that difficult at any point in time.

And so for us, what we want to be able to do is ask the question or ask for the specific deliverable that we need and be able to get it very quickly.

Now, we also know that not every answer is going to be something, that we want from a generalist.

Right.

Sometimes we're going to want to get into the specific practice area, that we're focused on.

And so for this example, I'm going to focus on privacy and data protection.

And so let's say in this instance I just hired a new salesperson in London.

Can you help me draft an internal AI use policy for them as it relates to using tools other than white shoe like ChatGPT?

Right.

I'm just going to leave the normal reasoning mode on, but what you can see in this prompt is that I have actually not requested or provided any additional information other than what's specifically relevant for the task at hand.

That I have a new salesperson in London and I need an internal AI use policy for them for tools other than YSU like ChatGPT.

And so I'm going to go ahead and click send message.

Now it's important to know up here at the top, we were able to select the specific practice area of privacy and data protection here.

And so the answers that we're going to get are going to be from the perspective of someone in privacy and data protection, which is great.

Now as you can see, it's going ahead and going through all of the relevant reasoning.

what white shoe does is when you submit a prompt, you can see that it will assess the query first.

Right.

And then it will look at the specific tasks that it needs to accomplish.

And before it actually starts moving through those tasks, you can, it's going to start to identify the relevant issues that it needs to bring in and start to apply after that it's actually going to start answering.

As you can see.

This is the final bit that it's answering here.

It gives me the answer up top it says yes.

Below is a ready to adapt internal A.I.

use policy, for third party tools.

It's designed to address UK GDPR confidentiality, IP sales, compliance, employment.

All of these pieces, right?

And you can see that this drafted now with the effective date, the application purpose and scope.

You can see here, it's got these citations throughout and if we get all the way down to the bottom, you'll actually be able to see those citations come through.

Specifically, this is the type of drafting that it continues to do.

Everything is footnoted within here so that it all ties.

And this is a policy.

It even provides name, signature, date.

As you roll this out and all of the citations here, it shows you where it comes from.

So number one, UK GDPR Data Protection act, the 2018 part two, all 11 of these.

And so this right here gives us the applicable work product that is tailored specifically to white Shoe AI without anything, not to say without anything, but with a very, very simple prompting experience that we just hired a salesperson, we need an internal AI use policy for them and it's going to give us that, that knows our company in and out, our risk posture, everything of that nature.

And not only that, we have a couple of options.

Number one is that we can export this directly to PDF, we could save it to our briefcase, which is a place where we can download documents later or we can actually just export this straight to Word.

this means that all of the formatting items that we had previously worked with, all of those will come through.

So everything that we've identified as style rules within Firm iq, down here to the left, all of those style rules are actually going to come through when we export this to Word.

This is what we mean about Firm IQ being the engine that moves here.
