How to Proctor a Benchmark Exam 🎓

I'm going to show you a quick video of how you can proctor a benchmark Unspeakable.

So the day has arrived.

You've been assigned as a proctor for your organization and your students will need to do their benchmark exam.

And you're responsible.

So let's go ahead and get started.

So whether you clicked on a link from an email or whether you're sitting on your dashboard right now, I'll show you how to get in.

Start proctoring and get your students on board.

So the first place you're going to want to look, if you land on your dashboard, you're going to notice there should be, a chip at the top here mentioning that there's a proc, a benchmark available.

Or if you scroll down, you'll also notice there's a benchmarks tab.

You can certainly click Start Proctoring.

If you don't see either of those, you can click on benchmarks and you should see, your benchmark available.

Now in this case, I do have two available that have the same name.

In your case, you probably just have one available right now.

So you'll go ahead and click Start Proctoring and you're going to notice there's a brief instruction screen here where we learn about how benchmarks work.

So the first step is opening a room.

A room is the physical location you're in.

In this case, we're representing it digitally.

Hey, this is a room.

And I'm going to share a join code with the students for this particular room.

They're going to do the benchmark and then when I'm done with this particular classroom, we can close it and we can open as many rooms as we need to to, proctor this benchmark.

So, for example, if I have period, two and period three that I'm going to be proctoring for, I can open up separate rooms for each of those.

It's just a group of students that does the benchmark at the same time.

So let me go ahead and open up one of these rooms.

What this is going to do is it's going to generate a five alpha, five digit, alphanumeric code as you can see on the screen now.

And I'm going to have to share this with my students.

Your students will go to app speakable IO benchmark, and they will enter the code.

So I'm going to go ahead and pop open that screen.

Okay, so now I'm on the join code screen, so I can go ahead and enter the code and certainly copy it here.

I'll paste it in.

You'll just share that with the students.

Again, either projected or write it on the blackboard.

I will click Join now, and this will just take a second for me to enter into the room.

Now, in this case, I'm a student that's off roster, so you're going to get a little warning here.

normally when administrators set up this exam, students will be added on the roster.

If they're not, they will come up here.

So if you have a student that, for whatever reason, wasn't on the roster, that's okay.

You'll just click admit all.

When that happens, I'll be placed inside of the waiting room.

So the students won't be able to start until you click this Start Benchmark.

Now, if a student rolls in late, no big deal, they, they can still join the benchmark after it started.

Okay, so I'm in the waiting room, and your students will see something like this.

It's going to take a second to load the benchmark, and they'll see the name of the benchmark and it'll tell them that they're waiting.

So I'm going to go ahead and go back over here.

Once I click Start Benchmark, this is going to load all of the benchmark, pages that the students have to do, I should say the tasks.

And their screen will also flip over.

They'll have this browser lock that they agree to.

So we go full screen mode.

And now the student can start the benchmark.

So I'm going to go ahead and run through this really quick.

Hello.

Check 1, 2, 3.

You're going to notice this comes up the first time the students turn on their microphone.

This is just a quick check.

When they hit I'm ready, it's going to start the microphone immediately.

The woman in this, image is doing a science experiment with a flask and a mixer.

She's mixing some items and she has safety equipment on.

So I'm going to just go ahead and cruise through this and so you'll see the end result.

So I just submitted one task.

I'm going to go ahead and go back to proctoring.

You're going to notice this student is in progress.

and there is one tab lock, warning.

So that means I shifted away from, the tablock, so that's working properly.

If I click on the student, you're going to notice.

I, can see where they're at with their task.

So if I start working on task two, this will show up as in progress and you're going to notice there's this allow retry.

So if there's a circumstance where you at your best description determine, hey, something happened technically with the student's microphone, or for whatever reason you need to give them a retry, you can click the allow retry button.

What this will do is generate what we call an offer.

And this allows the student to click on a banner at the top of their screen that will allow them to redo the question.

So as you can see the banner shows up here.

right.

I'm Johnny and I requested you to redo question number one because my mic got screwed up.

So all the student needs to do then is click go to question one and they'll be taken back.

It'll clear it and they'll be able to do it again.

When you're all wrapped up, as you can see, I navigate it back.

When you're all wrapped up with the benchmark, you just want to go ahead and close it.

You can certainly see that, you know how many students have submitted just a note for you.

When you close the benchmark, all of the students, benchmarks will be submitted automatically.

So if I go ahead and click close room, they'll be submitted and graded.

So if there's someone who's kind of lagging behind and it's at your discretion to give them that extra time, you, you can certainly do that.

Just leave the room open, until they're done.

So as you can see, I now have the full room history.

I can see what happened in here.

I can see it was auto submitted when I closed it.

and I'm ready to go.

So you can't access the results from here.

That's another feature we'll be releasing to the future.

All the results will roll back into the benchmark administrator for them to evaluate and eventually share with you.

It's a very simple, couple step process.

Open the benchmark, share the code, watch them do it, close it when you're done.
