I'm going to go over how now in Chariot you can do ranged estimates much more easily.

with this new feature I'll show you how this works on non binding estimates, not to exceed estimates, how it applies regarding binding estimates.

I'll show you how this looks on the office side to the user and I'll show you how to automate this using the estimate template feature.

So, how does this work?

Well, let's say I have an estimate here.

I'm going to load up a template.

A one called hourly default.

Okay, so I have an hourly rate.

I have a truck and travel fee.

This is a non binding estimate.

Previously in Chariot you would have to come down here and type in a range.

But now what I can do is click either on this button next to the quantity of the charge and and I can check a quantity range.

by default this goes to minus one plus one, but I can change this to say minus two plus one, etc.

So you can make this whatever you want.

I'll keep this as plus or minus one.

Let's say I add another fee here, like medium, box fee.

We'd do that in the packing section because this is up and let's say I add in 10 here.

But again I want to add a range.

I would click on this and then say let's say minus 5 to plus 5.

So five 15 boxes and can save it.

So I've ranged these individual charges.

If I need to edit this, I can click in and change that range or turn it off.

so each charge is ranged itself and then down below automatically the Chariot has ranged the total estimate for me.

If I really want to, I could override this range.

if I didn't do these charges, I could also just put in a total range, a min and a max.

We still have the ability to add estimate total notes as well.

this is kind of based on the fact before you could type in anything there like including full value protection.

So if you want to append just a note of some kind to that total, you can do that here.

but this is pretty much ready to go.

So what would the customer see if we did this?

Well, let's take a preview.

So, the range now shows at the top.

but down below, we have the subtotals, ranges, the ranges by charges and the total estimate range.

Now, I mentioned I wanted to Come back to was.

As a reminder, we have formats in Chariot.

These control what your customers see, and part of that is hiding the total.

So if you don't want to show that total range, you can do that by checking off certain feature, certain settings here on your format.

Okay, so that's pretty straightforward for a nine bond binding estimate.

Let's clear this out.

Let's say this was a not to exceed estimate.

So we work with some movers where they give a, set of charges, but then they'll say, hey, it's not going to exceed this much.

Certain states, this is very normal as well, like California.

So let's say we have the same estimate here.

but now I want to say, okay, I estimate this as 1400-1820 with not to exceed.

I can also enter in a not to exceed price.

So I could say not to exceed $2,000 but still provide this range.

Again, if I pull this up now in Chariot, it will say not to exceed.

It will show the estimate range, but it will also show the not to exceed price.

if I choose to, it'll show this at the top and then it also shows it in the charges section.

also note, if you don't want to show the totals, you just show the quantities.

You can do that as well.

So you could say hourly rate seven to nine hours.

Again, you would just do that by editing your settings like hide total column in the formats.

Now, binding estimates, I just want to be clear.

don't work with ranges.

So if I change this to a binding estimate, it's going to turn off those ranges.

That's because binding estimates, flat rate estimates, those are supposed to be binding, right?

So it doesn't really make sense conceptually to allow you to create a range, on that when there's a single price that the customer is agreeing to pay.

so you'll still just see the option to calculate a total and then to put in a total binding total.

And we talk to us if you do binding estimates and have questions, and we have abilities to hide the details of the charges and just show that binding total, and handle it different ways.

So let's say, you're liking what you're seeing here, but you don't want to every single time have to go into Chariot.

so the key thing is you can save ranges on your estimate templates.

So estimate templates is a reminder.

This is taking all of the different settings you want on your estimates and rolling it up into one package that you can load with a couple clicks.

So that includes the set of charges, it includes the formatting that the customer sees.

it includes the deposit strategy.

Meaning is there a deposit card on file, how is that deposit calculated?

Whether there's a packing section, the type, and now it also includes the range logic on it.

So let's say I want to save this down as an estimate.

Maybe I'll do minus two to plus two and, and I want to save this as a new template.

Well what I can do is just say save as template.

I'll call it, you know, two hour, range.

Four hour range is probably more accurate.

And now if I come to a job like this and I load up that new template I just built for our range, it automatically loads in with that range on it.

so there's no need to do it.

Now if I let me just clear this here.

If I have this as 10 hours, let's say just not what I put in before.

Now I'm going to load this again and it says 8 to 12 hours.

So that range that +2, +2 is saved on the charge.

so if you send out range estimates regularly, especially for non binding moves, highly recommend you take a look at your templates, put these ranges, maybe save new versions of it or have ranged and non ranged versions.

Because ultimately this can mean you just load this up and hit, you know, send to the customer without having to do any more work manually to arrange it.
