Getting Started with Sent Onboarding 🚀

Hey, guys, how's it going?

This is Kevin, your favorite technical account manager.

Today we're going to be walking through onboarding with sent.

What are the different flows?

What are the best practices and answering a lot of questions that you might have about using sent.

So without further ado, let's get into it.

When I log into the dashboard, you'll see in the top right corner, continue onboarding.

And when we click on that, we're going to fill in our business information information.

So I'm actually this is all filled in because I was practicing earlier, but we're gonna do my business Kevin's Cakes.

You can see right here.

I'm going to use my sent email, but please use your business email.

This is my real phone number.

And we'll continue now up here at the top you can see the website URL.

We're going to fill in our legal name.

So this is going to be what business is registered as.

You know, maybe in my case, I registered as Kevin's Desserts llc.

We'll fill in the country of registration as well as the business type.

We're trying to make money here at Kevin's Desserts.

So I'm a private profit company address.

And then please make sure that this is a correct, tax ID.

Now moving on here to the WhatsApp integration, we're going to be prompted to connect our Wuba account, WhatsApp business account.

And you can see here it will prompt you to log in from your personal.

Don't be alarmed by this.

This is completely normal.

Each WhatsApp business account is tied to a personal account.

So you can see here I'm going to go ahead and continue as myself.

From here we'll connect our WhatsApp account to sent.

And you can see here, I already have a business portfolio, Kevin's Donuts.

If you don't have one already, you can of course create great one.

A business portfolio is going to be at the top of your hierarchy.

And within that portfolio portfolio you can have multiple, businesses or multiple sub accounts.

So in this case we'll just call it Kevin's Donuts.

And then you can see here, within that portfolio, I do have multiple accounts.

Again, if you don't have one, you can create one here.

It's very simple to do.

but in my case, I already have an existing one that I'm trying to connect with sent.

We're going to use Kevin's Cakes in this example and confirm so we can allow the connection to occur.

All right, perfect.

So you can see here we're ready to chat with people on WhatsApp.

It has been successfully connected and we can go ahead and finish.

We are going to come back to this in just a second and I'll explain a couple things, but for now let's go ahead and move on.

You can see here I have an existing number tied to this WhatsApp account already.

So I'm going to select it and then move on.

If you don't have a WhatsApp number already connected to your account, I'll show you here in a second what the flow is.

To provision one from Sentence.

Now you can see here it has been connected successfully.

Kevin's Cakes.

You can see the phone number here, but we are getting a couple of error messages.

Now, in order to use sent, you do have to do a couple of things on the WhatsApp side under your Meta Business Manager or Meta Business Suite.

The main one is going to be business verification.

Now I have a separate video that walks more specifically and more in depth on that on how to fix this and how to get your business verified.

So I'm not going to walk through the whole flow here, but if you go down here below in the docs, you will see it under WhatsApp troubleshooting.

So make sure that we complete the business verification, with WhatsApp and then secondarily we want to make sure that we have a payment method also on the WhatsApp side.

Once these two are completed, you'll be able to continue with your onboarding.

Now you can see once everything has been successfully done, it will allow you to move to review and submit.

This is a demo environment, so I didn't get an error.

But if you have not completed your onboarding, excuse me, if you haven't completed your business verification, it will throw an error when you try to onboard.

All right, sounds good.

So onboarding has been complete and we're ready to go.

All right, great.

So now we've completed the onboarding steps.

However, depending on your use case, there might still be a couple things left to do.

For example, if you don't already have a phone number for your WhatsApp, you want to provision one.

If you want to send SMS to the US or internationally, there might still be something left to do.

Over the next couple sections, I'll walk through these things in order.

First, how to provision a number for your WhatsApp.

Second, how to send SMS to the US.

And then finally, we'll cover international SMS.

So a few moments ago I touched on a different case, which is what if I'm onboarding and I don't already have a phone number for my WhatsApp and I want to provision one from Sent.

Well, this is how you do it.

The prerequisites are again that you've completed the full onboarding, which means that you have a verified business with WhatsApp and you have a payment method added there as well.

So once we're fully onboarded, we'll go over here to Channels on the left hand side and then WhatsApp over here.

Now yours is going to look a little bit different.

You're not going to have a phone number here and down here everything's going to be green with no errors.

But this is the part that really matters and it's going to be exactly the same.

We'll click on switch account login with Meadow.

Continue.

Get started.

You can see here again we're under Kevin's Donuts.

This time we're going to do Kevin's Donuts, which is an account that does not have a phone number.

We'll confirm.

We'll go ahead and hit finish.

Now you can see here, it will say provision and then new number.

So you can go ahead and click on that.

Feel free to say confirm.

All right, perfect.

So now we're good to go.

You can see here we do have the brand new 208 number, that we provisioned from Sent.

It is connected to our WhatsApp.

You see here it does say pending.

Just give it a few seconds, maybe a couple minutes.

It's just going to auto register.

If you do have any sort of issues with this and it stays stuck on pending, please reach out to support.

We'll take care of it for you.

But that's how you provision a number from sent for your WhatsApp and connect it, right here.

Now, maybe there's other things that I want to do.

In this case, I want to send SMS to users in the us.

I'm an American company, I want to reach people, via sms.

How do we do that?

Well, first off, to explain, you do have what's called 10 DLC registration, I have another video that goes more in depth about it, but just high level.

This is a registration process that every company in the US has to go through in order to send SMS to the us so I'm going to walk you through an application here today.

It's going to be pretty surface level.

If you do have any further questions, you need some advice, feel free to reach out to our team.

However.

However, let's go ahead and walk through this.

It'll make more sense by the end.

So the way to start that registration is to go over here to playground over here where it says your registration is incomplete and we'll click on Continue application.

Now, there are many use cases for 10 DLC.

As you can see here.

We have little descriptions for each one.

Feel free to find the one that fits your case best.

We're going to keep it super simple and use A2FA down here at the bottom.

I'll click Add details and now you can see it'll ask us for a number of different things.

You can use AI to create this.

Just confirm that it matches what you're actually trying to do.

I've made a couple of examples here.

The good thing is we also do have a quality check, as you can see here.

While we're submitting this, we can see if sent thinks it's a hygienic, submission or not, and any sort of improvements that we can make.

All right, so I've got a campaign description here.

As well as a sample message.

Essentially the campaign description is going to describe what you're trying to do.

You can see I've got some recommended changes to make here.

I'm not going to make all of these here for you today, but follow those changes and instructions until you have a clean submission.

Then you can see here a sample message will include our privacy policy and terms and conditions.

Down here, we'll have our call to Action message flow.

You can see we do have documentation that explains this a little bit better.

Essentially, the call to action is going to explain how users actually opt into messages from your business.

If there's for example, a form that they fill out or a little checkbox, maybe you've done this yourself, we'll want to make sure that we have that explicitly described and if it's behind a login, for example, to insert a screenshot of that opt in mechanism so that the regulators, whenever they review it, they can actually see, excuse me, what's going on and how users opt in.

Here we'll have the opt in message.

Whenever a user does opt in, this is usually the first message.

They'll get something like, hey, you're in.

Here's what to expect in terms of messages, fresh deals, daily specials, etc.

If a user decides they don't like my donuts, I don't know why they would ever say that or do that, they can respond, stop.

And this is what the opt out message is.

It'll tell them, hey, you've been unsubscribed.

And then of course, if a user needs any help as well, for help, visit Kevinstones.com alright, so you can ask it to check the quality or actually revise and rewrite the whole campaign to fix the different compliance issues for you.

And now you can see it's been completely revised.

No longer have the message up here.

Cool.

Right, so now we're going to save.

We'll hit continue.

I do have to select at least two use cases.

All right, I'm going to add in this other use case right here for delivery notification and press save.

So we'll go ahead and continue.

And here we can do our revision and submission.

So that's the correct contact info, correct business details and yep, we want to do two FA and delivery notification and then we're going to submit it.

All right, and we want to make sure that we have enough funds to submit this because it will be charged $5 a month for the campaign fee.

So.

All right, so after we hit submit registration here, we'll submit it to our compliance team, they'll take a look and if they have any sort of suggestions or revisions, they'll send it over to you to make any sort of changes.

If everything looks good to go, we'll submit it to the regulators for you, let you know that we submitted it, and then come back to you if there's any sort of, rejections or best case approval and then you'll be good to go to send sms.

All right, great.

So let's fast forward a little bit.

Let's pretend that the Brandon campaign both came back as approved from 10 DLC.

This means now that we're ready and approved to send SMS to the US Whenever this does happen, we will auto assign you a phone number.

But if there's any specific area code, for example, that you'd like, we can go buy that number for our area code for you, all The way to get this specific area code or codes that you're looking for for your phone number is very simple.

Whenever your brand and campaign do get approved, you'll very likely get an email from our compliance team letting you know that it has been approved.

Usually they'll ask you, hey, do you have any specific, area code or phone number that you're looking for?

And they can go purchase that for you and then assign it to your brand and then your campaign.

All right, so let's talk about a, different case which is sending international SMS to users.

Each country has its own rules and regulations.

However, the good thing is we have something called alphanumeric sender IDs or alphasids for short.

What this is is 3 to 11 characters.

It slightly changes depending on the country that you can set as the sender ID to your users in different countries.

For example, if I want to call myself K Donut whenever I send messages to users in Germany, it'll appear to them as kdonuts.

One thing to note is that alphanumeric sender IDs do not support two way messaging.

So if you want to do templatized one way messaging and you want to do it quick and easy, this is probably the best way to do that.

Now the question becomes how do we do it with sent?

So if you scroll over here to the left hand side under channels or under sms, as you can see, see I've already added Germany.

But the way that you do this is add country and then Germany hit add and you can see it will add the country because it's already, it's already there.

So I'll go over to get dedicated sender identity and in this example I'll do K Donuts and request alphanumeric.

Now you can see here it's been automatically requested and set as K Donuts.

So whenever I text someone via SMS in Germany, that's how it will appear to them.

All right, so now you can see whenever a country doesn't require registration to send sms, via alphanumeric, it's pretty easy, right?

I'm fully set up to send to people or users as K Donuts.

Now there are going to be countries where registration is required.

We will help you every step of the way to do that.

I'll just show you real quick.

One example is Nigeria.

I've already added the country here and if we go over to get dedicated sender identity, it will show us all the different requirements and rules and regulations for this.

So I won't read all of this to you, but what I can do is, hey, I want K Donuts as well.

I'll request a submission.

And now you can see it does say document submitted.

Your request is under review.

What's going to happen is our team will reach out to you if there's any sort of specific documentation we, we need to submit to, the Nigerian regulators.

They will review it and us know, hey, if there's any sort of changes or additional information that they need.

All right, so just to be clear, if you do add a country and then request a sender identity and it does it automatically where it says alphanumeric and then whatever your center ID is, that means that registration is not required to that country and you are ready to send.

However, if you do see that pop up that has the different requirements and regulations and once you submit it you see provisioning that means that the registration is currently in progress and our team will likely reach out to you soon to gather any additional documents required.
