Today I'm going to show you how you can use templates and anchors to automate field placement on your envelope.

This is great for documents that vary in length, where you have access to the underlying template that's being used to generate your documents.

In today's example, I'm going to use a quote template.

However, this could work in any scenario where you may have access to the template that's being used to generate your documents.

Here in my quote template, I've added anchors to the areas where I want to automatically place my fields.

For example, I want a email field at the top and I also want a name, signature and date field at the bottom.

I create anchors which I place into the document itself.

These can be anything and we would usually place them in squiggly brackets so they're unique and not visible anywhere else in the envelope.

For example, where I am wanting to place an email field up the top, if I was to just use this, the word email, when I assign a field to that anchor, it will place the field wherever the word email is present on the envelope.

So it would place a field here and down the bottom here, where email is present.

So you would usually place these anchors in squiggly brackets so they're not present anywhere else in the document.

Again, these can be anything.

They're unique to you and this template.

So if I wanted to, I could use the anchor billing email, and that would just need to be present on my quote itself.

So again, I am entering an email.

I'm placing an email field at the top, name, signature and date at the bottom.

And then with your document that's being generated and uploaded into NHL, you would place these fields in white so they're not visible to the naked eye.

So I updated this field from email to billing email, which I will just go ahead and update in my document, which I'll do here.

Billing email, and I'll place this back in white so I can't see the anchor.

And down the bottom I also have the signature or name one, signature one and date one for where I'm going to place those fields.

So first we need to create a template inside of aniture.

So what I'm going to do now is download my quote template with the anchors in them, and we just need this document to assign the particular fields to those anchors.

So I'm going to download this PDF and now I'm going to jump into aniture.

So, heading to templates on the left hand side, I am going to create a New template.

And I'm now going to upload that template document that I had just created.

Coming down, we add a role, which is a placeholder recipient.

This, can be anything from, for example, client.

And then when you send the envelope, you're going to tell us who the client is.

Coming down, you'll prepare the documents.

Now we're going to add fields to the envelope and we're going to assign each of these fields to those anchors that we've created.

So for example, I can grab an email field here and then on the right hand side underneath placement, I'm going to configure a placement and add that anchor.

So for this anchor at the top, I use billing email.

And, and again I'm going to use those squiggly brackets.

And as soon as I hit confirm, I'm going to see that field snap to that particular anchor and a message up the top letting me know that we found a match.

I'm going to do the same for the two or, three fields down the bottom.

So I've got name, which was name one, Signature, which was SIG1, and also date, which was just date.

Now that I've added fields to my envelope and I've assigned them to particular anchors, I can go up and hit save changes in the top right hand corner.

I can give my template a name.

I don't need to worry about providing an envelope name or message, as we're using this template for placement rather than sending it out to a particular recipient.

So now that the envelope or the template has been created, I can now test the workflow by sending a new envelope.

So I'm going to go back to my quote here.

You can see here my quote is quite different to my template.

My template has the signature fields at the bottom, whereas my quote has quite a few line items here.

and the signature panel is actually moved to the last page here.

So I'm going to download this PDF and then start that workflow of uploading it into annoture.

So in annoture, we'll send an envelope as normal by clicking the send envelope button in the top left hand corner.

And I will upload my ad hoc document being my quote that I've just generated coming down, I can add a recipient.

So just a name and an email.

And now I can apply the template that I've created.

This can be done via the three dots next to that particular document.

And then by clicking Apply Template here, I'll get a list of my templates and I can simply select my template and hit continue.

It will ask me to assign each of my roles to a particular recipient and then I can hit confirm.

What this is doing now is looking for those anchors in the document and then placing those fields on top of those anchors for me.

So coming down to prepare documents, I'll see that my email field at the top has been added and my three fields down the bottom have been added as well.
