Understanding Timeback Monitoring Features 📊

Hi there, Alpha Anywhere families, this is Joe and this video is all about the monitoring features.

Inside of TimeBack.

There's some important differentiations that will involve the screen, the camera that's built into your, child's computer and the microphone.

And they want you to understand exactly how this works, what's optional, what's required and why.

StudyReal, as you all know, could not record through the camera or the microphone at all.

It was off.

And the monitoring, had we ever turned it on, wouldn't have been impressive.

Timeback can, and it uses that capability in two very different ways.

Daily learning follows one set of rules and testing follows another.

Let me take them one at a time.

For daily skills work, the setting is that the camera and the microphone will be off by default.

However, we do recommend you having it turned on.

So here's why we recommend you do.

When your monitoring is on, the system is checking in roughly every 10 seconds and logging how your child is engaging with their work.

Are they focused?

Are they looking away from the screen?

Are they talking to somebody, a sibling or someone else?

Do they walk away?

Are they flipping around?

You know, like, everything, is followed, including things that sometimes look like cheating.

And the architecture that the AI is using is pretty sophisticated to understand any integrity issues.

Now that may sound a little like, you know, a lot, until you see what it produces.

And you'll have access to these things right here in this landing page.

And the way to reach this landing page is by clicking on this home button up here in the top left and then using this little sort of meter looking icon in the bottom.

And you'll see that the monitoring is divided into five focus categories.

And those focus categories you can also see on the data collection settings here in timeback.

These data collection settings you can see, are not able to be modified for recording the screen.

those are required in all cases.

That's the minimum amount of data we need to collect.

But you can toggle these on and off for the camera and the mic.

Now having them off, you can see that there's degraded coaching.

Our coaching is disabled and short descriptions of all of the types of monitoring that are happening.

You'll see those described here over on the left.

There's more information down here as well as some privacy control, information at the bottom.

Now for testing, this is in fact required to be switched on, which you can do very easily here.

Switching this toggle on ensures that as kids are going through both mastery testing and map testing, that the results have strong integrity.

The cheating detection and integrity detection tools in the camera and microphone help ensure that the program is in fact delivering everything we say, regardless of whether it's at a school campus, at home or anywhere else for that matter.

Now parents and caregivers, you have additional access to see some of these insights using this tool in the bottom left showing you specifically what time was used toward learning and what time might not have been used toward learning.

and you can see those insights sort of broken up in these bar charts depending on whatever time window you view.

This data is just something we just simply did not have with study real and something that I think you'll understand.

But also helping inform how the program tailors its material to your student and how you can stay informed on how your child is learning.
