Mastering the College Diving Recruitment Process 🏊

If you're a diver or a parent trying to figure out the recruiting process and you're hoping to, I don't know, not be so overwhelmed or confused or feel like the coaches are, ignoring you, I mean, it absolutely feels like they're ghosting you sometimes.

This might be exactly what you're looking for.

So I am going to try to show you how divers are getting recruited, how they're building relationships with these coaches to get recruited, and then some of the mistakes that I see, I'm going to show you how to avoid them.

Right.

So why listen to me?

My name is Brent Eichensier.

I'm a former NCAA All American, from Stanford.

I dove there all four years.

I'm, a current dive coach for the Duke Diving Club, and I am the founder of Recruitable Diver.

Over the past several years, I've helped divers and families navigate the recruiting process, connect college coaches and earn opportunity opportunities, earn opportunities at the next level and ultimately commit to schools that are a great fit for them academically, athletically and financially.

Because that is a big part.

I personally been through the recruiting process myself.

I've competed at a high level, coached divers through the process, and built relationships with college coaches across the country.

In fact, a lot of the coaches that we'll be working with, were either previous teammates of mine, previous competitors of mine, previous coaches of mine.

I've seen firsthand how confusing the recruiting process can be for families, especially when nobody really explains it.

And nobody really explains it well, I'll be honest.

So that's why, that's exactly why I created Recruitable Diver.

Who I help, I work with divers and families who are serious about competing in college and want a clear roadmap to get there.

Okay.

most of the athletes I work with are motivated, hard working and already trained consistently.

Now, I'll be honest.

If you are new to diving and you're not training consistently yet, that is not a deal breaker.

But I'll say this.

Motivated and hardworking are pretty much non negotiables in my opinion, for, for getting recruited.

Okay?

So I'm going to give guidance on some of the following things here.

How recruiting actually works, how to create a realistic college list.

Right?

colleges that you are going to fit into, how to build recruiting videos, how to communicate with coaches, and how to stand out in a very competitive process.

Because I'm not going to mince words, this is pretty competitive, especially with the roster caps that have been implemented.

So some divers are just getting started with recruiting, which is absolutely fine.

Others are already emailing coaches, but they're feeling stuck and overwhelmed, unsure whether they're doing things correctly.

You're not hearing back just this, like you're shouting into the void.

Since starting recruitable diver, I've helped divers commit to schools.

A lot of different schools.

a lot of Ivy Leagues, Davidson, Arizona, Fordham.

I mean, I've got Idaho, Miami, Ohio, Kaiser in Florida.

Just lots of different schools.

Okay.

families I've worked with have earned substantial scholarships, you know, both academic and athletic.

some of them have actually gotten over 40k a year, which is pretty, pretty incredible for them.

I was very happy when that happened.

Most importantly, though, and I mean this honestly, I've helped families feel more confident, organized, and informed throughout what can otherwise be an extremely overwhelming process.

And I've helped their divers get into a school that they truly fit into, not just that we got them into.

It's a good fit.

Okay?

Who this is not for.

This is not for families looking for shortcuts, guarantees, or magic tricks.

I'll be honest.

That's just not how this game is played.

it's just not how.

How the recruiting process works.

So the recruiting process is going to require effort, communication, consistency, and personal responsibility from the athlete and.

And from me, I'll be honest.

I am going to be there with you step by step through this to make sure that we get you to the school that you want to go to or that is the best fit for you.

So let's see here.

I, will be straight up with you.

Recruitable diver is not for every athlete.

Okay?

There are some families that are extremely organized or their divers are extremely talented and intelligent, and then they're being recruited.

So they, you know, I've.

I've found families that are very comfortable with the recruiting process or they're already actively being recruited.

Though, if, if you are one of them, this is probably not a good fit for you.

But for the 97% of the rest of you, then I do think that I can help you out here.

All right, here's what's gonna happen.

First, we're gonna talk about where you currently are in the recruiting process.

What that typically means is, your academics, your athletics.

So basically, what your dive list looks like and where are you?

Are you talking to coaches?

Have you put together highlight reel?

have you scheduled visits yet?

Okay.

from there, I'm going to go through the system I use to help divers get recruited.

We're going to build recruiting plans, we're going to communicate with coaches, we're going to create recruiting videos.

We're going to improve your recruiting profile.

Basically think of it like a baseball, card of your stats, academics and athletics.

And then how to, navigate the process step by step.

That's what we're going to go over.

I'll also explain what recruiting, together looks like.

So you and me, I'm going to answer any of the questions you can come up with and help determine whether Recruitable Diver is a good fit for you and your family.

At the end of the call, you can decide whether or not to move forward with me.

Honestly, no pressure.

I just.

Either way, you're going to walk out of that call with a clearer picture of what's going on.

Why this works.

What makes Recruitable Diver different is that we focus on the entire recruiting process, not just the diving ability.

Honestly, not just the recruiting either.

Because there are some big box systems out there that only look at the recruiting side in a generic form.

they're trying to encompass all different sports under one umbrella.

I think the reason why Recruitable Diver has been so successful is, is that I, we're going to look at the athletics and the academics specifically for diving, marry them together, and it's going to be a very specific recruiting process.

I don't think I could do this for multiple sports.

I really don't.

It's the fact that, we're laser focused on diving, that really helps here.

So a lot of very talented divers do struggle with, with recruiting.

A couple reasons start too late.

I hate this phrase because it scares some people.

if you're a senior right now trying to get recruited, you're not too late.

Okay?

You are just in a different state.

So I've got a different strategy for you.

I have helped several seniors get into colleges.

we just use a different strategy.

But if you are a sophomore or a freshman, right.

Don't wait until senior year to start recruiting.

I can tell you right now there are some seniors that would kill to be in your situation.

So don't Start too late if you have the ability.

Communicating poorly with coaches is a, Is a big issue that divers have when it comes to recruiting.

Not understanding the recruiting timelines, that's a big one.

And I'll explain that more if, if we talk, sending out weak videos.

That's a funny way to phrase it.

Sending out suboptimal highlight reels.

it can actually just turn a coach off.

It's.

I mean, it's like any other type of, YouTube video.

If it comes through and you don't like it, you just move forward and go on to the next one.

That's how recruiting works, too.

Targeting the wrong schools that don't match up well with you or simply you just don't know what the coaches are actually looking for.

That's a, That's a, tough one as well.

So I'm going to help families simplify the process and avoid those mistakes.

Instead of guessing your way through the recruiting process, you'll have a clear roadmap, structured guidance, and ongoing support throughout the process.

That's my goal.

The goal is not just to help you get recruited.

It's to help you get recruited to the right fit.

The right fit college.
