Simulating Telephony Data with Workflow Variables 📞

Today I want to show how we can use template variables in workflow settings to simulate the data that comes from telephony.

So I will take an example of pre call data fetch where we can fetch data before the call starts to populate the initial context.

We can set the pre call data fetch by going to the advanced settings in start call node Here we can provide an endpoint URL of one of the services that is exposed which can pre populate the data.

The use cases can be if a phone call is coming to a restaurant, we can take that phone number and fetch the customer details from an ERP of the restaurant so that the agent knows which customer is calling if they have any food allergies or the latest menu can be fetched where the items which are available on the menu can be populated in the agent.

So.

When an actual call is consist on production.

When an actual call comes and the caller number and call number is set in the initial context, the webhook or this HTTP request that will be sent to your service will contain from number and to number But when we are doing a test call from web over here from web unfortunately those context variables are not set.

So what we can do is we can go to settings and we can add these context variables caller number called number and we can save it over here.

So what will this too is when it when you do a web call and we are prefetching some data, those values will be sent to your service which you can use to simulate call coming from telephone.
