I gave Miro's AI a lazy prompt and it still delivered

This time we're going to go through Miro, which I believe is a collaborative brainstorming tool.

it's been around a while, although they have evolved quite a bit over the last few months.

So as always I'm going to sign up to the product, go through the onboarding, and then once I get in there I'm going to have a play around with it and just review the UX as we go.

So I'll give you my kind of honest thoughts on what's working, what isn't, and what can be improved.

Okay, so first impressions on this signup page, it is a stark difference from the rest of the website.

Like this feels really engaging.

We've got animations as we scroll, we've got cursors flying around everywhere.

then we come here.

It's a bit like meh, like sign up pages don't need to be anything fancy but it feels like they could be doing a lot more here anyway and sign up for free.

So obviously they're reinforcing that here.

And then they are suggesting we use a work email, just to help keep things separate, and then you'll note they've obviously added work email as the form, field title up here or the label should I say, and then enter your work email as the placeholder.

So they're really kind of hitting that home.

Interestingly though, no password is going to be required so I'm going to get a link that I can click on to sign in.

Now in the other teardowns I've done on different products, we haven't really seen that approach.

I like it because it just means we don't need to remember the password and it means signing in is pretty simple and pretty quick.

although if I don't have access to my email then obviously I wouldn't be able to sign in.

Okay, so I've got my email address in there.

like this is one of the downsides, to signing in with an email I'm going to wait for that email to come through, then I've got to open up my email client, and click on the link to sign in.

So there are definitely drawbacks to this approach.

Now obviously it means they can verify the email address, which is certainly useful.

but now, yeah, the onus is on me to do some work here before we even get into the product.

and if that email doesn't come through, then obviously I can't use it.

I've had to wait a while for that email to come through, which is not ideal, because I think in most cases users would have just abandoned this already.

So I've clicked on the link, in the email and it's taken me here.

So, yeah, it looks like we're gonna have to go through, and complete the setup process.

Hopefully, hopefully we'll be really straightforward.

Now what I do like about this, is the fact that it feels like I'm almost in the product.

So you can see it blurred in the background.

It's almost like teasing users.

It feels like we're not a million miles away here.

So, yes, I've used it a couple of times and I've used it for work.

so, yeah, obviously a, lot more questions here than I thought they would be.

how did you hear about miro?

Okay, whatever.

YouTube feels somewhat deceiving to have to go through a process that seemingly has one or two really simple questions and then the more you answer, the more questions just appear, which doesn't give me any sense of like, how long this will take.

given the issues I had with the email, which didn't come through for a while.

Kind of just want to get in there and experience some value now.

Anyway, hopefully we're there now.

So I've answered seven questions.

So I like the fact that we can do this from Slack, from Google, from Microsoft.

We can copy a link and share it that way.

or we can just add the emails in.

So lots of options there and should be really convenient for people to do.

But like I always think this step is quite premature.

Like I haven't created a Miro board yet.

and depending on what I create I might want to share with somebody specific.

And if this is just something I'm trying out for the first time then I'm unlikely to want to get my teammates involved until I figured out whether this is a good fit.

So for the time being let's skip for now.

for me that's where it's taken me So this is an interesting approach.

I think they've added a block here for us to get started.

Is a very open ended question.

Now there are other kind of suggestions underneath about what we can do as well as explore other flaws and Sidekick.

So I think Miro just trying to encourage here which is an approach I like but it's very open ended and probably quite easy for me to get lost in this product if this is the first time I'm using it.

So I'm going to come in here and I'm going to ask it to help brainstorm some ideas, see if it can come up with something valuable.

So this is very much a collaborative process, very much what you see like in a lot of these AI tools now.

it's come up with some interesting ideas here to be fair.

Nice thing about this is I can continue to chat with it over here on the right whilst I'm mapping out ideas in or on the canvas itself.

Now they've obviously included a video as well.

Talks about Miro AI agents and how to use them.

I think it's a nice introduction for, from somebody who maybe isn't familiar with how the product works.

And then it's obviously come up with a number of different format angles, content lenses, audience hooks and torn options.

So I think we're getting quite a lot of value from this.

Despite my very kind of minimal prompt that I added to begin with, I gave it very little context here and it has come back, with something really useful.

So it's thinking about it, it's telling us what's going on, it's working on it.

At least we're not left in the dark.

And it's creating a series of sticky notes.

So in fairness, I think it's done what we hoped it would do.

So it's now given us a number of different products that we can review as part of a UX Teardown series.

And then we can either discard this or we can just add it to a canvas.

Okay, so super simple.

that seems to work quite well.

Now given the nature of this product there isn't really an end point here but we have come in, we've signed up, we've gone through the onboarding and we've created some Post IT notes with our new sidekick.

All in all, I think it's been a good experience Although we did have a few issues early on.
