welcome to Pathways After 18.
00:02
My name is Deborah Sweeting.
00:04
You know, turning 18 is often seen as a milestone.
00:07
But for families of teens with disabilities, it can feel like standing at the edge of a cliff without a map.
00:13
Legal rights shift, schools begin to step back, medical providers speak differently, benefit systems assume you already know the rules, and through it all, you're expected to make life-altering decisions quickly and confidently.
00:28
We believe adulthood should not be built around limitations or service eligibility.
00:32
It should be built around strengths, preferences, contribution, dignity, and purpose.
00:37
Inspired by person-centered thinking principles and real-world pathway mapping models, this community exists to help families design adulthood intentionally, not reactively.
00:49
We define the life first, then we align this— the supports.
00:54
Inside this community, you will learn how to discover your teen's strengths in ways that translate to real opportunities, define what a good adult life actually looks like, map practical pathways towards employment, independence, and community, advocate confidentially in IEP and adult planning meetings, Reduce anxiety by replacing uncertainty with step-by-step framework.
01:18
This is not crisis management.
01:21
This is pathway design.
01:22
I created this space because I have walked this road.
01:25
I know the questions, I know the fear, I know the complexity of systems that feel intentionally confusing, and I also know this: when you shift from reacting to designing, everything changes.
01:38
You become calmer, more strategic, more confident, and your young adult feels it.
01:45
This is a community of shared identity.
01:47
We're not waiting for services to determine the future.
01:51
We're building it together.

I work with a limited number of families at a time to ensure personal guidance and real support.

Spots fill up quickly because the need is urgent and the results are transformational.
