Pricing and Packages Template

I wanted to record a video to give you an overview of how to use the product pricing plan template that we've just released.

So pricing is a tricky subject, but a lot of the time it helps to have a high level view of what you're aiming for with your pricing tiers.

If you're a SaaS business that has different plans available to your customers.

We found this template quite helpful to us and it's actually amalgamation of a couple of different sessions that we ran internally consolidated into one template, which we think gives a good starting point to take this discussion further with your team.

The idea with the template is that you would break down your pricing categories or your pricing plans into different use cases as to why someone would choose this specific plan for their needs.

You outline who it's for and you outline what might make them make the decision to choose that plan.

Obviously, if you have a free tier that's generally going to be for people who want to try out the product, it makes more sense when you get into your paid tiers as to why someone might choose this over a different tier or why they might upgrade.

So doing this sort of outline, exercise at the beginning just gives you a solid understanding of the decisions that you're going to then take into your marketing, into your pricing structure.

It lets the whole team align on decisions that have been made and it just makes everything clearer going forward.

The idea is obviously you would run through the first section which is defining your plans and defining the who and the what, then you would go into the second section.

The idea in the product features zone, is just to put everything in that is worth mentioning on your pricing page or when you're doing your comparison pages for your different plans or tiers, or just to think about how you might drive upgrades within your business, if that's something you want to do.

So ideally, here you go in, you put all the features that are noteworthy enough to make someone make a decision between different tiers that they're going to use, work through that collaboratively with your team and then see from there what makes sense to scatter across the different features or different plans that you have on the right hand side.

So again, the idea here is just a very high level view, so that you can see that you're splitting your features correctly, or that you're adding value at different stages or different plans for your different customer types to help drive a decision based on their interests and their needs.

And also leaving yourself opportunity for upgrade paths should they get to certain points where it makes sense to upgrade.

So the sort of grid layout on the right hand side is the area just to do that.

You would take all of your sticky notes, which is representative of your features, from this middle section, and you would start to lay them out here.

The left hand column, which is the sort of the summary of the feature which we find on a lot of product pricing pages, is an optional step if you want to take that, but it might help to validate some of the decisions you've made as to where or where not to include specific features.

So we hope you find this template helpful as an exercise to figure out how you might position your pricing or packages based on different use cases and Yeah, enjoy.
