We combine pitchbook style financial and company data with deep network intelligence in order to help PE firms source proprietary deals.
00:14
Today we're going to pretend we're the Carlyle Group, one of the world's largest PE firms, and we're going to look for companies that are within a maximum of 3, 3 network hops from us.
00:25
And what I mean by this is that we are at most 3 degrees of separation away from the C suite and board of those companies.
00:36
Let's say we're looking for companies based in California, doing at least 500 million in revenue, owned by PE sponsors, so we can purchase them in a secondary and operating in infrastructure in particular.
00:54
so here we go.
00:55
We have Cypress Creek Renewables, which is a solar energy company, it looks like I should point out.
01:02
We have detailed research reports, maps of competitors, details on headcount, all of the stuff you would typically find on a company and financial data platform.
01:14
But what we have that is a key differentiator and I think really the killer feature is network mapping to show your path in.
01:26
So here we have that Heinrich from Carlisle had served on the board of Osmos Utility Services with Karen Puckett, who is also on the board of Cyprus.
01:40
So this would be an easy intro via Heinrich.
01:45
Similarly, we have some business school connections and then we have some more interesting connections.
01:51
Like here we have aj, who's an MD at Carlisle but previously worked for Thoma Bravo, and he has a number of colleagues who he'd previously worked with at Thoma Bravo, who were on the board of the Cypress Creek cto, Roshan's prior company and structure.
02:13
So both of these look like they'd be very strong paths in and would likely yield a conversation, with pretty high probability.
02:23
one more thing that I think is very interesting to point out here.
02:27
we have timelines that show, historically when investors came in.
02:34
So you can see on the X axis we have time and investment events.
02:38
On the Y axis we have investors, board and senior leadership.
02:46
what's interesting with this is you could see for example that EQT came in on a secondary buyout in 2021 and then shortly after Alex Darden and Karen Puckett joined the board.
02:58
so this can be very telling in terms of the political structure of the board or who in senior leadership was installed by a particular sponsor.
03:06
It can also be helpful for figuring out who was there, during certain growth stages or certain critical transactions.
03:16
One, more feature to point out on companies, We've mapped out the set of competitors for each business.
03:26
And additionally we track which executives have recently departed the competitors.
03:33
So within the past five years, in particular.
03:38
And these folks can serve as potentially deal advisors to help you better understand, the company, its competitors, the market, the headwinds, the tailwinds, just in general.
03:52
These people can serve as deep experts on the space, and later on they may make good board members or somehow be able to assist with value creation.
04:03
next up, I would like to show you our contact search feature.
04:07
So we have two ways of searching.
04:08
One is over companies, the other is over contacts.
04:12
so here let's look for people who are within two hops of Carlyle.
04:17
Maybe I'm looking for current CFOs.
04:24
I would like them to be running companies that are owned by PE sponsors outright.
04:30
So PE majority control and maybe at least 500 million in revenue.
04:35
Let's narrow this down a little bit.
04:37
Maybe I want CFOs who are in software.
04:42
And let's open some of these profiles and see.
04:45
Okay, so here we go.
04:47
Looks like we have some business school connections to John.
04:52
See who else we have.
04:53
We have Paul.
04:57
Interesting.
04:57
Okay, looks like we have multiple connections via, JP Morgan's growth equity division, as well as someone who had, gone to business school, with Paul.
05:10
And let me mouse through on these profiles just to point out some things that are, I think, differentiating.
05:19
We map executives 10 years directly onto a timeline of financial events so that you can understand, which sorts of transactions the person has experience with or which growth stages the person was involved in at the company.
05:38
Right.
05:38
So it looks like, this person was installed shortly after Avid, technology was purchased by Symphony Technology Group.
05:47
So it's likely that he was installed as, you know, more professional cfo, a more mature CFO to run the business.
05:56
additionally, we map out ideal back channel references.
06:02
some of the things we do here that I think are interesting.
06:04
we try to identify anyone who, simultaneously was employed by an investment firm and therefore could speak to the person from a P.E.
06:15
perspective.
06:16
we also identify, others who were in similar seniorities and geographies and likely worked with the person.
06:27
we identify the length of the tenure overlap as well as the, connection degree of the person, just to figure out, how easy or difficult it would be for you to reach them as a backchannel reference.
06:43
so for example, here is one of the back channels who is only one degree away.
06:48
So this would probably be someone you could very easily get to talk to.
06:53
And here we go.
06:53
It looks like it's a pretty strong connection.
06:55
Ashley Evans from Carlisle, a, firm alum.
07:00
Relatively recent alum.
07:01
previously a partner, was on the board of ZoomInfo when Dominic was in the C Suite.
07:08
so this would likely be a pretty good connection.
07:12
anyway, that is our platform at a very high level.
07:16
we have a variety of use cases, ranging from proprietary deal sourcing to due diligence to finding, portfolio operators or diligencing prospective portfolio operators.
07:30
our platform can be used by Personas all across the firm.
07:35
And in general, we're unlocking the power of your network in ways that previously would not have been possible.
07:44
Anyway, I appreciate you, listening to the demo video, and I would love to give you a live demo if there's interest.
07:52
there's a form on our website.
