Hello everybody.
00:01
My name is Dostain, I am with the Observability team and I'm showing companies today how they can get the most out of ITSI to show to represent their main KPIs as well as the infrastructure supporting those KPIs.
00:16
So I have a diagram here that represents a real enterprise customer.
00:25
We have a Meraki user on a campus network through software defined wide area networks connecting into an ACI data center where we have UCS deployed.
00:38
UCS is where I'm running the Splunk Core deployment.
00:42
I have vcenter doing virtualization for my three tiered application.
00:49
across all of this I have represented in itsi the business KPIs and the technical services.
01:02
Let me explain to you, if you come closer I will show you an example of business KPIs here for instance, ITSI is powerful in the sense that it can represent for us the business concerns.
01:19
For instance your conversion rate on your website, the attack surface of your crown jewel application, the specific response time of a critical transaction, etc.
01:33
ITSI can represent any business service.
01:38
However that methodology of understanding doing a service decomposition workshop with a business leader does not translate well or easily to the infrastructure components.
01:52
So what we're able to do here is to represent or automatically understand all the infrastructure supporting these business KPIs.
02:03
And as you can see on my drawing here, we have domains for wireless.
02:08
I'll count them out.
02:09
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 technical domains.
02:13
This could easily have been 15 domains.
02:17
how we do this, how we achieve this automatic ingestion into ITSI of the technical domains is through our partner Fabrics AI.
02:30
Fabrics AI specialize in speaking infrastructure.
02:35
They understand pertinent KPIs of each domain.
02:40
For instance in wireless, in the wireless domain they care about contention.
02:43
On an SSID on a WI FI bridge for storage, they understand that the KPI is lossless ethernet and write speed etc.
02:53
Etc.
02:54
So fabrics AI normalized for us the the discovery and ingestion topology application dependency maps the inventory of the infrastructure into Splunk.
03:12
Without Fabrics AI, a log file in Splunk has no understanding of the topology.
03:20
that the infrastructure to represent infrastructure in ITSI automatically the understanding of topology is required.
03:32
So what Fabrics AI do for us is the provide us the metadata to build this I have one more thing to show you.
03:44
We have a dashboard from Fabrics AI into Splunk Core where they show us the scale of the ingestion for my demo.
03:53
We have.
03:53
13 minutes ago, we received 31 megs of, intel from them on 42, services described with 56 KPIs, 42 entity types, with the metrics and the entities.
04:12
So you can see here, this came from Thousand Eyes, that came from Kubernetes, that came from the campus, this comes from vcenter, et cetera.
04:21
So right across my domain.
04:24
Fabrics AI is enriching and basically giving us a view of the infrastructure in ITSI supporting our business deliverables.
04:36
Thank you.
