Trigger N8N Workflows with WhatsApp Messages 🤖

Hello.

In this video I'm going to show you how you can trigger an N8N scenario based on messages that you send using Whatsable, which is the best way to integrate WhatsApp, with N8N or any type of webhook while getting a lot of interesting parameters that will help you with your automation.

So the first thing we're going to do is we're going to go create an N8N scenario and then we're going to choose here as the module what table and then here we choose the module on new incoming or outgoing message.

The first thing we're going to do is we're going to need to put our credentials and here what's very important is that you select here notifier system incoming and outgoing messages.

This means this is a specific webhook that will trigger both for incoming and outgoing messages.

Actually before I do this I need to get a test URL which I'm going to paste from here, copy from here, Sorry.

Then we're going to go and create credentials.

It's important.

The first thing we do is change this to notify our system incoming and outgoing messages.

We paste the webhook URL here.

Alright.

And then we need to just get the API key from our system From Notifier that WhatsApp build app.

We go to API key assuming you have your number already connected to the notifier system and then we paste here the API key and we save it.

All right, now if we go to this webhook now if I copy this webhook.

And we go to our webhooks insight notifier, we can see for incoming and outgoing webhooks we probably see this one here, probably doesn't have good search capacity.

Here we find it.

There's things we can do like enable or disable it, but it's already in the incoming and outgoing webbooks.

All right, now we are here and we can go and execute this workflow.

and then here we can click Execute step.

What I'm going to do is now from my WhatsApp business, I'm going to send a message to myself.

So just so you see it, I'm on the WhatsApp business app and I'm going to send a message saying hello and I didn't.

So you can see I've sent to myself the message hello N8N.

And now I'm going to show you all the parameters that this includes.

So first the first parameter we get is the last messages.

This is basically the combination of the last 20 messages, both sent through WhatsApp Business app through API Automations templates.

That's all appearing here as a nested JSON.

Then you have it in a more human readable format in case you want to give it to an AI for context.

Then you can see the destination phone number, the name of the person receiving the message, the user id.

Then here you see again the last messages of the user.

Then you can see the last messages that you send, which is in the parameter last Sorry, I think it cut off.

The last messages of bot would be the last messages sent by the business.

It doesn't matter if it's sent by a human like I just did, or a bot or an automation.

It's in the parameter last message of bot.

So that's what I wrote just now on WhatsApp you can see the type of message.

If it would be for example an audio message that sent the transcription would appear here.

You can see the last message time of that message and the last message that you sent.

The last message that the customer of yours sent.

In Unix, if it be an attachment, it would be like a picture would be as a URL here.

If we go to our N8N, we can see at the bottom that send by accel method because that's the specific person that sent it.

All right, so these are two different ways for you to know who's sending each message.

If they use our system, we can specifically track which message was sent by who.

So that's how you can track incoming messages sent through the WhatsApp business app on your any 10 have a lot of parameters such as context, who sent it and other information given through our system so that you have full context when creating advanced any 10 scenarios.
