The CEO of, adexium.
00:03
And at Adexia, our core goal is to try and optimize our societal impact.
00:07
And when we looked at all of the millions of industries that we could work in, it became incredibly clear to us that education was the best place to do that.
00:16
And this stemmed from two core underlying reasons.
00:19
Firstly, education seems to be arguably one of, if not the most important industry in our society and is becoming increasingly important in the age of AI.
00:29
And secondly, it's also one of the industries that is the most underserved because if you think about some of the other really impactful industries, things like AI, energy, biotech, or even some of the questioningly impactful industries like quant and finance, you can often point to some incredibly elite teams, teams working on fusion, the teams at OpenAI and Anthropic, the teams at SpaceX, all of these other industries that yes, are often quite impactful, have huge concentration of elite talent.
00:58
But then when you look at education, we really don't have much.
01:01
There is really not an incredibly elite team that you can point to.
01:04
But despite that, it's arguably one of the most important areas where it's one of the biggest levers on human potential and human intelligence, which can then have a resulting impact on every other industry.
01:15
But more than that, it's also one of the biggest levers on human fulfillment, which in my mind is the ultimate metric which us as a society, society should be optimizing.
01:23
Whereas a lot of these other industries like energy and AGI, are optimizing a world of abundance which I do think can contribute to fulfillment.
01:31
It's not always a one for one correlation.
01:33
Well, ultimately an individual's fulfillment is correlated to their mindset and one of the best industries for helping shape someone to have a more productive, fulfilling mindset is education.
01:42
And this is becoming increasingly important as the world gets flooded with more instant dopamine sources and people living hedonistic and unfulfilling lives.
01:51
I think education is one of the main ways that you can fight that and help people find a passion and curiosity and find meaning in life.
01:58
So I think education is arguably one of, if not the most important industry.
02:02
But despite that there's such a low concentration of talent and that is why we are dedicating our entire lives to this space and doing whatever it takes to build the most elite team humanly possible to drive a huge systematic change in the world.
02:17
We want to build a world where every student finds a passion and a curiosity through throughout their education system and they learn through curiosity and marshly based approaches.
02:26
And Then we think the best way to make this possible is to build out effectively a full AI educational operating system and to rebuild how we teach today.
02:36
And our grander vision is to be the ones that help define and build this out for education and help our existing education system systematically change to that new way.
02:45
And this doesn't mean replacing humans in the classroom.
02:48
We do see AI doing a lot of the core academic knowledge delivery almost being like a three blue one brown esque expert tutor for every single student and truly engaging them in more personal learning journeys that's more curiosity led and mastery based.
03:03
But then that also fills up the teacher, the human in the room, to do one of the most important components, if not the most important part of education, which is that mentorship and that one on one human connection where the teacher can then have more time and bandwidth and also support from the AI to set up these group learning activities and projects and to do more one on one mentorship and connection with students.
03:25
And then if students are actually engaging and learning effectively, then they have so much time back to then invest even deeper, either into academics, if they love the pursuit of knowledge, or into other areas, whether that's sports, theater, or whatever they find interesting.
03:40
And if we can just get students to care and to engage and then we can give them an AI tutor which has infinite time and a human teacher who now has more time to talk with them, then I think the amount of potential and fulfillment you can unlock is incredible.
03:56
So that is our core ultimate goal.
03:58
And in the path to get there, we're first starting by building a tool in the assessment space to support teachers and students and then expanding that back out into a full school or educational lens.
04:09
But to make this possible and to truly actually realize this vision, we need to build an incredible team, some of the most elite people around the world.
04:19
And we've already made some good progress to make this possible.
04:22
Where we have a good foundation of funding, where we were fortunate enough to raise just over 4 million US or around 6.5 million Australian at the end of Y Combinator from some of the best investors in the startup and education space, like Paul Graham, Jeff Rolston, Tim Brady, the CEO of Class Dojo and many others.
04:40
And also being able to hire past Olympiads, second time founders, national level rowers and some other incredible people, and also get some early foundational product market fit which we can now rapidly scale out over the rest of the year and in the years to come.
04:55
But we need more elite people and more elite talent to make this possible.
04:59
But to make this possible, we believe that we not only need the most elite team, but also the most committed team.
05:05
We believe that if you truly want to optimize your societal impact, you need to have a period in your life where you fully obsess over that impact and are willing to dedicate everything towards that.
05:15
And so we're looking for the people that deeply care about this mission and are willing to give their 110%, at least for a few years to build something incredibly impactful.
05:25
And that doesn't mean messing up your sleep schedule and burning yourself out, because that's just not productive.
05:31
We ultimately need optimized output.
05:33
And so you want everyone in our team to have an incredibly dialed schedule, perfect sleep, perfect exercise, perfect diet, so they can push themselves as hard as humanly possible to output the most that they possibly can to contribute to the vision and mission.
05:47
And like I said, we are trying to build the most elite team humanly possible.
05:50
So if you don't think you can keep up with that team and are willing to commit the amount that you'll need to commit to keep up with those incredibly talented, committed people, then this is not the role for you.
06:00
Because to maintain that standard, we have to be ruthlessly dedicated towards the vision.
06:05
And so if someone is not keeping up the rest of the team, they're gone.
06:09
Because otherwise we will slowly dilute our culture and negate the, impact that we can have on the world.
06:14
And we're also a very small, fast moving team and we need people to take an incredible amount of agency and ownership over that world.
06:20
We need people who always take ownership and responsibility, even if it wasn't their fault.
06:25
And don't just sit around and blame other people, but ask themselves, how could I fix that?
06:29
And have a continuous maniacal sense of urgency?
06:32
And you need to be able to take incredibly brutal feedback and be willing to fail fast.
06:37
We have a very brutally honest culture here, and if you can't survive in that kind of environment, then there's really no point in applying.
06:44
But if that environment sounds perfect to you, if you want to find a vision and a mission that you deeply care about and commit 110% and be surrounded by other elite, talented individuals that have the same mindset, then this might be the perfect role for you.
06:58
So please spend some time reading the job description below, fully processing and digesting what we're trying to accomplish, then we can jump on a call and discuss it further.
