Carousel Upsell - 15 Minute Checkout Tune-Up

Welcome to our, under 15 minute checkout tune up.

To help you prepare for peak season, this short video will show you how to do the carousel upsell to help drive AOV when margins are tight over that peak trade.

Now jumping straight in.

I have a demo environment here that already has checkout components installed.

So from the landing page I'm going to jump into Create a component.

Within the create component, you'll be able to see upsells content, custom fields, highlights, et cetera.

But given we're going to do the carousel component now, let's have a click into the upsell area.

Now first one from our templates here is that carousel upsell.

So let's jump straight in.

So let's start, by giving the component a name.

How about Black Friday Cyber Monday upsell?

Keeping it nice and simple.

If we navigate down here, this is the content that will appear at checkout and as I add the content, you'll notice that the appearance starts to update as well.

So you can see how you're tracking the suggested title here.

Let's go ahead with that.

Now, I don't need to have a subtitle on this one.

I want it just to be very clean and straightforward.

So I'm going to leave that one blank.

Now, with checkout components, there's a number of ways that you can power your upsells through Shopify AI collections manual and integration partner and our newly released V3 product mapping.

For this example, however, I'm going to utilize the Shopify AI.

So I select Shopify AI there.

However, AI doesn't always get it 100% right.

So what I would like to do is I want to hide some specific products.

Now you can do that in a number of various ways.

However, today I'm going to click in and then select the products that I don't want to show for this upsell.

So I've added those hidden products there.

Now moving down to our segmentation, I don't want this upsell to show for carts, under $50.

If they haven't made a $50 cart, I'm going to leave them to what they've got.

So anything over $50 is where I'm going to target an upsell.

So there's a lot of conditional rules, that you can apply here.

jump on in and take a look at all the different options.

However, I'm going to select cart subtotal is greater than 50 and add that rule.

Now I can stack rules.

However, for this example, I'm just going to keep that one rule in place.

So I'm going to select next and I'll say above 50.

So we know what this rule is.

Finish that one there.

Here you can see that rule if all conditions must be met, or any.

So that's very helpful if you are stacking those different rules there.

Moving back up, there are markets that we can select.

So should I wish to only show this component to specific markets, I can do that here.

And then also in appearance I can change a few, display settings I guess.

However, it is still templated, so I think I want this one to appear a little bit stronger.

So I'm gonna go with the primary theme of our Shop front.

So I don't need to dismiss that.

that's that there and that will apply.

Alrighty, so we can see that this is a V3 component and I'll show you why that's important to note when we jump into checkout.

And I'm also gonna copy this because this will make it really super simple to drop that in.

Now I'm gonna make this component active and I'm going to save the component that components appeared here.

Easiest way for me to navigate through to checkout.

I'll add it into the checkout here.

So I've created a draft checkout profile just to ensure that we're very happy with our setup before anything's published.

So I'm going to click into here to add in the extension for this component.

Now our data tells us that under the summary here is where we are seeing the highest conversion for our components.

So this is where I'm gonna add it in today.

So if I just add the block, what we can see here is the checkout components.

this is version 3 extension.

This is our version 2 up here, which is legacy.

A few, people might have that already on site, but because it's a new component that I've created, I'm gonna click into version three.

Now remember I copied the name before, so it's as simple as pasting that name in.

And I also want this component to show with Shop Pay.

So I'm selecting that little toggle there.

Now I can click this down here or I can navigate back and drag and drop, but you can see the name of the component showing on Shop Pay and I'll just click through and then I'm simply going to drop it down where I want it positioned at checkout.

Now having a look, I'm pretty happy with how that appears.

So I'm going to save this update to this draft checkout profile and I'll be able to come back in later and add my additional components for our checkout tuner.

But just to have a look at a few real world examples.

Hey bud.

A skincare brand that we've onboarded just recently who are already seeing flying results.

You can see that checkout carousel upsell there that really complements the look and feel of their checkout.

Really great on mobile too.

So do check it out on mobile.

And then the 2 xu team as well, they've implemented here that carousel upsell.

So it's a really refined way to add the upsell to checkout.

However, it still gives that customer the ability to click through to different products and easily add to cart.
