Product Mappings

At checkout components.

We understand how important it is to merchants that the right recommendations are shown to the right customers.

So we created a new system called product mappings.

This new feature, named Product Mappings, is available via the sidebar of the Checkout Components app.

You've got a couple of ways that you can create mappings.

You can do it either via the UI, or you can upload a CSV via using our template, which you can find when you click on the Download Template button.

We're going to use the UI first, so let's dive in and create our first mapping.

So the first step is to choose the required contents of the customer's cart for our recommendation to be shown.

So what we're going to do here is we're going to select this set of pants and this top.

And like before, we're going to say two T shirts and a set of pants.

Now we get to choose our recommendation products.

So I could actually choose multiple products here, but for the sake of our example, we're just going to say, okay, well, if there's two T shirts and this pair of pants, we're going to recommend this snowboard.

I'll So here we can see the product mapping that we just made through the, ui.

So let's go ahead and add it to our component.

So this is an existing upsell component which is currently using the Shopify AI recommendations.

If I go to recommendation sourcing, I can now see mapped recommendations as a upsell source.

I'll go ahead and click on that.

And I'll click Save So now we're in checkout with the required products.

In cart, we've got two T shirts and a pair of pants.

The complete snowboard can be seen as a recommendation in our upsell list.

It's also joined by another product, and that's because we specified on a component level that we wanted to show at least two products.

So in the instance where there's not enough products to meet the component requirement, we'll use AI to backfill and make sure that we're always showing the number of products that you want to show on componen components.

So let's take this one step further and use our, CSV upload to do many recommendations.

So this is the CSV template.

Couple of things I'll call out here.

Just regarding the columns that appear in the CSV.

So ID is the ID of an existing mapping that exists you might be wanting to delete or update.

got the command column.

So in this instance we're creating new product mappings.

So we're going to set those as create.

Again the options are, create, update, delete.

We've got the if cart line.

So that's the ID of the product that should exist.

The if quantity, the quantity of that cart line, the then product, which is the recommendation, and then whether or not it's enabled.

An important thing to note here is both the if cart line and then product columns can actually be comma separated.

So if you want to have multiple or requirements, you can do that too in a single line.

So let's go ahead and import the CSV.

So I've got my CSV ready to go.

I'm going to click on import, I'm going to add a file, and I'm going to upload my recommendations template.

I'll click upload, and then I've got a choice to either add, to the existing recommendation mappings or replace all of them.

So I'm going to add instead of replace, because I want to keep the existing product mapping that I've done.

So I'm going to continue to import.

And there you go.

So we can see our new product mapping.

So if I've got that set of pants, I should see, a hat.

And if I've got the videographer snowboard, I'll see some board wax.

So what I'll do is I'll just make sure that all of these are enabled, and then I'll go back to checkout and and we'll see this work across all the different products.

So now we're back in checkout.

We're seeing the complete snowboard because we've got our two T shirts and we've got a pair of pants.

And because we've got that pair of pants, we're also seeing the British hat.

So that's a recommendation that's popping up.

And we had another recommendation, which was when if the complete snowboard was in card.

So I've clicked add, and now the board wax is showing.

So that's how you use product mapping with checkout components.
