So using this new video feature, Squarespace, is actually pretty easy and it's going to feel very similar to what you're used to in 7.1 shop.

So all you have to do is create a new page and you're going to see this new tag, a, new label on the video collection.

So this is now part of our collections pages.

We have, you know, all the ones that we're used to, but now we also have video.

So once you click that, it's going to go through the same process that we're used to.

It's going to ask you to name the page and it's going to open up that library and it's actually going to fill that library post for you so you can see how it works.

So I've just basically created one using your DIY content here and just sort of filling it out so you can get a sense of what it will do and how it will look.

So like the shop, you have all of the videos, this is your all category and these are all preloaded.

They don't count against your time limit as far as I'm aware.

And then it has it broken down into categories as a preset, as part of the default content that comes with this collection type.

So there's also, you know, your categories, you can add your videos.

So this works the same way as we're used to, but when you actually click on one of these videos, you have a whole new experience over here.

It's going to make the video, just about full of the screen.

And it's simple.

It reminds me of the Vimeo video player.

It's very simple, it's very clean.

It still has the settings that we want, the quality and the speed, the full screen, the mute button, and then of course the positive light.

Those are all the pros.

The con is that this is not a full page in that it doesn't work like a blog.

So the content beneath that is basically just the category.

This is the title video and then you have an excerpt.

And so you're limited in what you can put in the content to whatever fit inside the description.

And so that part I'm not thrilled about.

If you go in and edit, you can't make changes here, so that part's not going to feel familiar to you.

I don't love that.

If you want to go in and edit your video, you can delete the demo content here and just replace it, or you can delete the content from the manager menu list.

But you do have lots of options.

Aside from that, you can customize this video's links just like you can with blogs and shops.

Basically everywhere else on your website you can give it a title and a custom thumbnail image.

You can choose the categories and manage that in here.

The status, just like a blog or an event or a shop item.

Everything else is the same but you just can't do that means that you also can't add other blocks down here for now.

So just text, limited formatted text and hopefully that doesn't matter.

and in the description you still have some formatting options in here for intervals, list numbers, list bulleted lists, indentations, stuff like that.

So you have basics you can link to other things but you just can't add blocks.

So no images.

You can't treat this like a blog with the video edited.

So that part is a con for sure.

But I can really see this moving forward as they continue to expand on it.

It could be a lot better.

and of course their intention was that you could build this library and put it inside a member's area and have a lock on it.

So basically anyone that's not a subscribed member, whether they charge or not for that subscription, it would be locked content so they couldn't get in unless they were a member.

And so that's where we get into paying for member areas.

if you go in here, Click on the Edit video settings and then you do a replace.

You can add your link from YouTube or Vimeo.

Still you can upload from your library or from your computer and it tells you on the video storage about how much time I have left after it's replaced this video.

So those are all good things.

once you start uploading video though, just know that you have increments of time available.

So 30 minutes for free.

Currently the member area pricing is in increments of 5 hours, 20 hours and 50 hours.

And that depends on which member area you add to your Squarespace subscription.

So this would be on top of what you already paid to host your site on Squarespace, making it more expensive.

So if you want to stick with YouTube for free for Vimeo, whatever payment you might already be paying for with Vimeo, that will work too, and it'll get around the additional number area.

So that's kind of the deep dive.

There's not a whole lot to it, but there's a lot of experimentation.

I'm sure they're going to continue to build this out.
