Tellavision — February 2022

Hey there. Welcome to another episode of Television, our monthly product video newsletter. It feels like a little while since I've done one of these, but in fact, the last one was actually only last month of January. But we did do another product newsletter in between this one, which didn't have one of these.

In today's video, I'm going to talk about three things. The first is our new Frames feature, which you can read about in the newsletter. I'll also show you a little behind the scenes of our Teams feature also featured in the newsletter in private beta and a bunch of people who are already testing it, and if you would like to be someone who tested as well, then we can get you on board, too.

And then finally, I'll talk about a new blog that we've just published which is the Best Product Videos of 2020. Anyway, let's jump into the first little behind-the-scenes about our new Frames feature.

Frames

It's basically the borders around your screen and camera layers or slides.

Frames

As you can see here, the border looks a little bit different from what you might be used too. This one has a really thin blue border and a blue glow and that's because a new Frames Feature has a bunch of custom borders that you can apply which look quite different from what you might be used to.

Frame Features

There's a whole set of them here which you can browse and test out, and you can toggle whether you want them to have sharp corners or round corners.

All the borders work with the different Layouts, so you can just pick a different layout and they'll apply no matter which one you choose there. There are quite a few fun ones to pick from.

So here's a Gold one.

Gold Frame

Which looks pretty good when you have a dark background.

We've got this cool Solid one, which looks kind of cartoony.

Solid Frame

This looks really good when you have just a solid background, light or dark, it doesn't matter too much. The solid one kind of increases the cartoon effect.

Rainbow Frame

We took that solid one and then kind of added a Rainbow to it, which is kind of nice.

And then my favorite.

Holographic Frame

Which is the Holographic one.

So this is the first version of this. We are going to add some more styles in here for you to play around and test out. And then later, what we're going to do is we'll open up some of the properties in the borders so that you can customize them and tweak them to match your own style. But that will come in a later iteration.

For now, try these out. Let us know what you think and what other kind of styles you'd like to see us add.

Teams

If you're a long time user of ours and you've spoken with me in the past, you've probably heard me talk about teams in some form, and now it's here in private beta. If you'd like to join, let me know and we'll add you to the beta.

The way that it works is you have your current workspace, which is just for you, and then you can click this option here:

Teams

Then you can switch to a Team account.

So you can see I've got two team accounts here, and then I can join there and I'll have other members of my team that can also access that. There's also a shared library of your videos.

Join the beta and help us shape the direction that we take this new feature.

Best Product Videos of 2020

So the end of last year, 2021, I wrote this blog post, which is the Best Product Hunt Videos of 2021, where we gave out prizes to the best product demo, the best promo video, funniest video, and the best video overall.

As part of the process for this, I didn't just review the best videos of 2021, I also looked at all the videos from 2020 as well.

After I published it, I sort of thought, why don't we just do this for the year before as well? And so I finally found some time to do that and now we have a new post on the blog, which is the Best Product Hunt Videos of 2020.

Best Product Videos of 2020

So you can go back in time and relive some of the fun launches that happened and the awesome videos that were made for the products that were shipped. You can check that on the blog, let us know what you think of it, and share it with others. It's only meant to be a bit of fun. Hopefully, you like it.

That's all for this month. Thanks for tuning in. The final thing is we're hiring a Growth Marketer so if you know someone who would be interested in joining the team and helping us grow Tella, or maybe you are interested in helping us grow, send me an email and we can chat. There is a link to the job description and everything on our website, so you can check that out as well.

That's it. Look after yourselves. Look after your loved ones, and we'll see you next month. See you!
