# Set your transcription language

> Choose the language Tella transcribes your videos in, and teach it names and terms it keeps getting wrong.

Tella transcribes your videos to power subtitles, transcript editing, and search. The **Language** settings page is where you set which language it transcribes in, and where you teach it words it would otherwise misspell.

To open it, click your **workspace name** in the top left of the sidebar, go to **Settings**, then **Language** under **Account**.

## Transcription language

**Transcription language** chooses the language used for your videos' subtitles. Set it to the language you actually speak in, not the language you want subtitles translated into.

This is your personal default and applies to videos you record from now on. It does not re-transcribe videos you have already recorded.

  Already recorded a video in the wrong language? You do not need to record it again. [Re-transcribe it](/docs/help/editing/retranscribe-a-video) from the editor and pick the correct language there.

## Transcription dictionary

The dictionary teaches transcription the words it cannot guess: people's names, your product and company names, and technical jargon.

Add each term using the exact spelling and capitalization you want to see in the transcript. Do not add ordinary everyday words: the model already knows those, and padding the dictionary makes it less accurate, not more.
